Dr Mark Bonar alleges his “clients” include an England cricketer, British Tour de France cyclists, a British boxing champion, tennis players and martial arts competitors as well as footballers. He says he has treated more than 150 sportsmen from the UK and abroad with banned substances such as erythropoietin, steroids and human growth hormones. I would of thought that if he was a doctor and he prescribed them then they would of medically needed them although all the meds that are listed would normally be prescribed by a different specialist i.e testosterone by a endocronologist. I can only deduce that hes either admiting liability or the athletes hes talking about actually needed these meds medicaly. Or hes just decided to come clean whichever it is its not good for sports
It's good for the fans though. Nice to be in the know like... If the sports had it their way we'd all be in the dark and the status quo would continue, which is pretty much what happens, ie. they pretend to care about drug use and 'testing' but only as a smokescreen to appease the fans and sponsors. The eternal problem is the sponsors demand a squeaky clean image whilst the fans are screaming for superhuman performances. The gravy train depends on deception. But that's business, it's dirty, just like life itself...
i am not surprised if i am honest. I posted here ages ago that you can take PEDs and not be detected as you can use masking agents. This is where the research is the greatest. This is why conte and others where so good is the masking agents can mask the PEDs in the system. However, normally the idea is to cycle these PEDs and not be on them every month. THis is why fighters who have large layoffs it works. Most drug testing protocols have not caught up with the research in actually masking these PEDs and cycling on and off them.
Utterly unsurprising. Remember when the Spanish authorities decided to destroy all those blood bags that could have been used to identify cheats? Yep, the Spanish knew that all of their sporting heroes were about to be unmasked and willingly covered up for them.
Yes, and in recent years the testers have also admitted that they can't do much to detect "micro-dosing", where athletes take small amounts of testosterone etc. over a longer period and over the months get a significant training effect while never going into an incriminating elevated level. ie. they can pass random tests any day of the week just by keeping he doses small, but over the months they get significant benefits. And that's simple, anyone can do it. The so-called "biological passport" system is fundamentally flawed too, since there's no guarantee that the readings are clean readings to begin with. They are merely looking for suspicious changes, but if the readings were always "enhanced" ones it just suits the cheats. So, even if the testers were uncorruptable, and even if they were catching up with the cheats (both of which are far from true), they still haven't got a system. It's more a business/ industry than an actual attempt to stamp out doping.
None of this claims have be substantiated by anyone. He's meant to be the PED doctor to the stars and yet the first time he meets an unknown (fake) athlete he starts bleating out names of clients who presumably pay big money for his expertise and discretion. Sounds like a big pile of BS to me. Not saying sportsmen and women don't cheat but this guy is a joke source.
Wouldn't shock me. They need to have pretty solid endurance levels. Some of the male professionals on that show have some very impressive physiques.
That's exactly right. It's in nobody's interests to actually stamp out doping. There would be too much collateral damage in the process.
Whilst it doesn't shock me this bonar fella isn't exactly someone I'd trust and is on the verge of getting struck off so I'd take his words with a pinch of salt
