This would be a pretty difficult question to answer. There are \ a number of candidates who you could make a pretty convincing case for.

 

Woodhouse and Hamilton were both pretty poor champions. I've nothing against them as people I just don't think they were up to much as fighters or provided much in the entertainment stakes.

Anthony Small was pretty poor too. I don't think you'd have much problem making a long list of people who weren't great to watch or particularly effective.

That's meant as no disrespect to these fighters, perhaps I'm too harsh and expect too much from domestic title holders now so many British fighters have graduated from that to world honours.

 

Its not only that he's been very lucky in his defences, its also that he comes across as abit of a ****er

 

Shane mcphil was th 1st to spring to my mind but to be fair at least he came to fight it was his technical ability that let him down but that dosnt mean someone aint a good fighter. I wasnt too keen on cardle but after last night i hope he gets beat handily next time out

 

Yeah I guess if you factor in likability then he scores pretty lowly. I was just pointing out that there have been plenty of champions to have that operated at a similar level skill wise.

I always thought Small was a ***** btw so his radicalisation didn't come as a huge shock to me. Having grown up in East London something I've noticed which doesn't seem get highly publicised is that most of these deranged nut jobs who join extremist groups are former drugs dealers and the like who 'reformed' when they found god. In short the brash idiots who have always thought there was no consequences for their actions. Sound like Small much?

 

I've met Cardle and he seems a nice enough fella and I wouldn't say he's a poor fighter either.

His movement is decent but for me his problem is, he over does it which can only dent the gas tank as Bellew was saying last night. He was also making Dodd miss by country miles at times and then not reaping the rewards by following it up.

When he moves, slips and throws shots coming off the jab he looks tidy! I just think some times he can sits in range for too long when trying to get his own shots off which see's him getting caught.... it's also not handy when he's prone to cutting around the eyes so easily!

It wasn't a robbery or anything last night but I felt Dodd deserved the victory and should be waking up British Champion this morning. Was gutted for him when the result was read out.

 

To be fair he would have been Enzo had it not been for that meddling timekeeper!
