If you believe that his improvement was all down to pacing, you probably will think he could have adapted.

If you think he received Sharapova like help you would have to say Vlad sinks without a trace in the 30's and 40's.

Anyone else a bit dubious about a fighter improving one aspect of his game so much? I mean, Vlad more or less had a health problem! All of a sudden he does 12 rounds effortlessly?

It's pacing. He threw more punches in 5 rounds against Brewster than he did in any of his other fights after that.

He barely makes it 12. How is he supposed to go 15 with fighters who are used to going 15 hard rounds?

no major difference imo, how hard is it to work out that you are gassing and learn to do less and hold more?

Yes he'd be great in any era. He would always get battered from pillar to post by the first man who stood up to his power, but once he adapts and spams the jab-clinch combo anyone will find it hard to beat him without an advantage in speed, timing or size.

Mo he wouldn't. He would've joined Louis's bum of the month club.

This. The pacing from his "jab & grab, jab & grab, 1-2 & push" style makes all the difference. That's why it seems so silly to me when people carry on about how many rounds boxers fought in the early years.

Carnera who was the same size even weight more. Could do it so don't see why Wlad couldn't develop that same stamina back then

It might simply be that Carnera had better natural stamina.

Not everybody has the genetics for it.

Let's make this clear:I am not saying Vlad is a drugs cheat, but I think it is perfectly plausible that his trainers identified a health problem and dealt with it.

Vlad didn't just gas, he absolutely fell apart in fights. I don't believe pacing overcomes that.

Whatever Vlad took, and it may have been within the rules, would almost certainly not have been available in Louis's day.

Because he was forced to throw that amount of shots to keep Brewster off him. The ref wouldn't allow him implement his illegal octopus tactics and a stoppage loss in only 5 rounds was the result .
    Wlad was a manufactured product.
He does exist in other era's
