Some say Wilder will use his jab to keep Povetkin at range.

Wilder's jab is nowhere near as good as Wlad's. Actually, Wlad is better than Wilder at just about everything.

Povetkin stopped Wach. Wlad could not do it.

His KO over Takam, a top ten talent was impressive.

While Perez and Charr are not overly impressive ( Wilder level title opponents ) Povetkin looked good here as well.

AP's form, fitness, and timing have improved post-Wlad.

Wilder's power to me is overrated, yeah he can punch some but if he hit that hard, he'd lay guys out sooner than he does.

Prime Wlad maybe, now I'm not so sure. Wlad had a hard time with Jennings, who got humiliated by Ortiz.

More like the ref stopped him. It was in the twelfth round, they gave him a gift stoppage.

Not to mention Wlad fought a younger better Wach.

For a guy's whose best win was washed up Tony Thompson, calling Takam top ten talent is certainly debatable.

I honestly think Duahapaus' win over Helenius might very well trump anything Takam has done.

A black eye is what it is. It looked ugly but didn't slow him down at all. He was never in much trouble.

Molina can hit hard. But Wilder basically shrugged it off and went on. That was once the entire fight, Molina was down four times.

These still were for the most part one sided beatings.

A post of mine from another thread.

For all those people who somehow think Povetkin has an iron chin and that none of the KD's against Wlad mean anything, ironically the one that he was the most legitimately hurt with is the one that Wlad got the point deducted and didn't get any credit for. Watch closely at 1:03:45 in, Wlad catches him with a straight left which stuns him and follows it up catching him with a leaping left hook just like the one he put Pulev down with several times, and when Pabon freaks out and docks Wlad a point Povetkin is staggering around like Pascal at the end of the first Kovalev fight, he was badly hurt and had Wlad been allowed to jump on him right afterward, he would have definitely been stopped.

Um, okay. Helenius who was injured and pretty much took two years off of boxing was shot. He's DONE. Before that he was lucky to get a decision of Chisroa.

Takam was a top ten ring magazine rated opponent, with no such problems when Povetkin capped him.

Tony Thompson was also a top ten ring magazine opponent.

See a pattern? Povetkin fight ranked guys, Wilder avoids them.

They have fought a completely different class of fighters.

Be honest here, do you really think Wilder wouldn't spark Takam just as easily as Povetkin did? Sam applies to Thompson.

And you know as well as I that rankings don't really mean s***.

I think post-Klitschko Povetkin is different. If you look the fight - all 11 rounds Pov was somehow afraid of Klitschko and certainly round 12 he went toe to toe and wasn't afraid of him anymore. So for me - Sasha had some psychological issues against Vlad as he was promoted the way that the win was mandatory. But I think those days are long gone - he eventually found good coach and he can fully concentrate on upcoming fights. Hes confidence is grown and imho he have a fair chance to beat Wilder or any other heavyweight.

Exactly. Since fighting Povetkin, Takam has been fighting club fighters and his best win is still over the hill Tony Thompson, who honestly wasn't even that good in his prime. Basically Thompson was one of those guys who looks like Tarzan and fights like Jane. He is considered good primarily because he along with guys like Kevin Johnson and Eddie Chambers were the cream of the crop in the American HW division when it stunk. Guys like Deontay Wilder and Charles Martin are trying to redeem America in the HW division because those guys were disgracing it.

I still cringe when I think about Shannon Briggs stumbling around the ring fifty pounds overweight against Sultan Ibragimov, or being Vitali's punching bag. Ugh.

Wilder is underrated h2h, rated about right in terms of resume. Povetkin is rated right on resume, overrated h2h.
