This has maybe been done but got me thinking.

A superb fight this could be...

Legendary switch hitting powerhouse versus the fast, skilled, underrated Welsh dragon.

Although Joe boxed at Super Middle the fight should be easily made.

    Who you got?

Hagler was not a "big MW"....Bob Arum saw Duran & Hagler side by side at a banquet event, and saw they were similar in size...and that was the reason Arum made the fight.

Joe C will be a lot bigger than Hagler and will just outpoint Hagler....if they fought at some "catchweight".

Man, this would be a helleva fight!!! Two great southpaws. Joe's footwork could get him in and out of range, to build an early lead, but I see Hagler coming on strong later. They both had great stamina.

    I don't think I can pick a winner.

Hagler was better than Joe by a significant margin. I don't care if Calzaghe was bigger, Marvin was superior. Hagler clearly on points.

Better? I agree... by a significant margin? No way.

I think Joe being bigger evens this one up.

Yeah I was thinking along the same lines. Did not know who to pick. P4P Hagler is the better fighter IMO, Joe was exceptional when at his best though. He was probably quicker, I can't see Joe ever stopping Marvin though.
Hagler would aim to punch through Joe. Guess we will never know.

My thinking too. Hagler would do the damage but I dunno if he could get the tough, larger man out of there. Joe would pitty-pat him all night long and win a solid points decision.

Also would have to be a 12 round fight, where Hagler was more used to 15, when his fights went the distance, which did not happen very often.
Joe with his work rate and often punch/slap style could pull a decision win.
Who knows, would be a very interesting fight.

Calzaghe could beat the Hagler of the Leonard fight , but not the younger , faster , harder hitting , relentless Hagler.

Joe's technique was too sloppy and Hagler's was too clean, crisp and accurate.

I would say that is a very good statement.

The Mugabi fight was brutal, took a bit out Hagler, hence why SRL took the fight.

hag stops joe early if they can force a petrified cowardzaghe out of his locked toilet cubicle and into the ring.

    I agree with this.

I also feel that Calzaghe (whom I respect greatly) would require much more than a 4KG weight advantage to have much chance against Hagler - different levels, a different boxing education and upbringing.

Surely the ONLY issue causing any doubt about a Hagler win here is the SMW v MW aspect of this match? Surely P4P people must recognise Hagler is far superior to Joe?

I think the best Hagler would tear Joe C up.

Calzaghe spent his whole career on the left hand side of the card and was very well looked after match-making wise, Hagler never had that luxury. Joe would not have kept his "0" if he'd had the same itinerary as Marvin.

I reckon that the MMH who stopped Minter would stop Calzaghe too, although as Joe is not a bleeder like Minter I think he would likely last longer.
