Marciano-Walcott 1- Marciano was knocked down for the first time in his career...
...hurt...staggered...blinded for four rounds because liniment got into his eyes...behind on all scorecards....and then in the 13th...throws the best right hand ever...and wins the heavyweight title. Rocky proved that he could take it...as well as dish it out...and that he could get knocked down...get up...and come back to win...something Tyson couldn't do.

Sure, but in fairness, Walcott wouldn't have knocked Tyson down or given him a dogfight in the first place...

If we are going to count faded versions of Walcott, Charles, Moore and Louis as great wins, then so is Tyson's win over Holmes. Especially considering how Holmes beat Mercer & gave Holyfield& McCall problems.

If we are going to look at the depth and the quality of the fighters that Tyson defeated, then there is no comparison. Tyson beat the better, bigger more advanced fighters.

I think Tyson's win over prime Tony Tucker is probably a better win than Marciano ever managed.

Louis was faded but the other three were still in good nick.

Then you gotta count Marcianos win over Louis right?

I think Tysons best win was over Spinks. It's one of the most famous one sided knockouts in history. Marciano's win over JJW was much tougher. And I think that win tested Marciano in deep waters, and he came out victorious with one of the best rights ever seen.

Marciano with Walcott 1. All the HW champs would've had their hands full with that version of JJW.

You know rez, since I'm from massachusetts I hate seeming like I'm trashing Marciano all the time. But when he beat Joe Louis, Joe Louis was old and not at his best. He had lost to Ezzard Charles and looked bad in the fights before that, just couldn't pull the trigger. The wins over Charles and Moore are no different. 3 Old ATGs.

For me Marciano's best win is probably Walcott I, but Walcott was also old and had a few losses at the time. I don't know that we can compare the Spinks' win to Walcott, Spinks was undefeated and had just schooled Larry Holmes twice, Walcott was older and not the same fighter. Also it doesn't make sense to penalize Mike for KOing Spinks in 1 round when Marciano had a tougher fight with Walcott.

Marciano definitely beat better opponents, but you could make a case for Tyson having the best win based on how he beat the opponent i.e. steamrolling Spinks.

That is theoretically possible, but good luck proving it!
