Both small heavies with lightheavywt background.

Gene more mobile....Patterson faster hand speed.

    Who wins?

This fight is all of floyd... Tunney had nothing to worry him. Patterson was faster than dempsey, he catches tunney and good night

Both were the same height at 6 ft.....but Gene had 5 inches in reach over Floyd, 76" vs 71".

I think Gene's Jab and mobility can Limit the occassions when Floyd can cut loose with his combinations, and perhaps as Gene starts to time Floyd the odd corrective right hand might keep Floyd from getting too Fisky, but Floyd would have his moments but then Gene would learn to read Floyds Pre-Launch stance and react accordingly, it wouldnt be easy but i think Gene could win a close decision,

All i can say is ...Tunney's Not Sonny....So Floyd not Destroyed !

Gene the greatest technical boxer ever as hwt champion. His right hand was a feared weapon in his time. He stops Floyd late in an exciting battle early.

I see this fight something like Patterson-Maxim except Tunney hit harder.

Floyd had a tendency to dawdle between attacks and combinations, and I see Tunney piling up the points steadily and then dancing away when Floyd attacks.

    Tunney by decision.

I go with Patterson, he was proven vs better heavyweights, and I think he could chin check Tunney with a left hook Dempsey style. Except I rate Patterson higher than Dempsey and I think Tunney's style would actually be beneficial to Patterson.

there's a chance Tunney outboxes him of course but it was usually big punchers that would ruin Floyd's night and Tunney wasn't that. I don't think Tunney would be able to dictate Range as good as Ali did with his jab, and I think Patterson's punches would have a big effect on Tunney.

I'm not sure I can entertain the possibility of Tunney stopping Patterson. Ali failed to do so twice after Patterson's peak. I don't discount Tunney winning, but I'd like to get your reasoning behind this if you wouldn't mind?
