Think Pacquiao would actually have a lot of success with his unorthodox, come from all angles style like Pryor did. In my opinion Pacquaio was better than Pryor, a harder hitter with both hands and was more refined. Pryor also was lucky that he faced the version of Arguello that he did, the younger one (at 130) is the prime version and IMO would be able to counter punch and his technique would overcome Pacquiao's talent, speed and power. It would be a shootout forreal and it wouldn't surprise me to see Pacquiao win it either, but I'd side with Arguello by stoppage.

Arguello. He had everything Morales had and more.

This would be a fantastic contest. Pacquiao's speed and volume would cause Alexis headaches, but few fighters in the history of the Featherweight division threw a more accurate, more powerful right hand than Arguello - which is the shot you would have to say has caused Manny Pacquiao the most problems in recent years. It would take a brave man to come to any conclusions with any sort of conviction. A braver man than me. How would Pacquiao deal with Arguello's body attack? Could Arguello have functioned effectively at Pacquiao's pace? I envision Manny Pacquiao starting the better, but would he become a bit gun shy once he feels Arguello's power?

There's a clear disparity in speed between both Morales and Arguello. Moreover, Morales could become quite insolent and would up the pace and force proceedings if he felt it benefited him. I think this actually worked in his favour against Manny Pacquiao who was not used to being pushed back, having to fight off the back foot. None of these things would happen against the more methodical, more cerebral approach of Alexis Arguello. The sharpshooter. It's a different fight altogether.

Arguello times an onrushing Manny on the way in with a single pin point right hand. Goodnight.

Not really, it was all Morales really had ws the big right...but in these fights, right hand body shots (imagine from AA) and the big one up top. No way Pac survives.

You disagree that Morales had superior handspeed to Arguello?

You disagree that Arguello was more methodical and economical?

Then our opinions on both fighters are so wildly different that discussion would probably prove fruitless.

Arguello possessed concussive one punch power whereas Erik Morales did not, that much we agree on, but I think the Mexican certainly had the advantage in handspeed and would throw the greater volume of punches. In short, Arguello would have fought nothing like Morales did in his fights with Pacquiao.

I could just as easily compare Manny Pacquiao and Vilomar Fernandez but I don't think that would help answer the thread question.

Arguello was a textbook classic boxer. Superb counter punchers like Marquez and more so Mayweather proved Manny can be figured out. AA would surely pull this one off.

For all of those that are confident in predicting an Arguello win, at what stage in the fight does he land this big right hand? And how does the fight play out prior to this happening?
