I don't know about that, but his physique surprised me. Not sure if he'll be able to contend again but chances are he'll do better than Ruddock who didn't do too bad domestically.

Ike was 6ft3 240lb. Not too far off Foreman's size.

Any insider info ? Maybe he brutaly mauled a few sparring partners in a psycho-pugilistic fistic frenzy and his trainers are keeping it hush hush?

Most overrated HW of all time in his prime. Nothing more than a KO waiting to happen now.

One thing Ike never lacked was self confidence. I remember the day he walked into Curtis Cokes Home of Champions gym & declared " I will be
heavyweight champ & no one will ever beat me I'll be God's champion"
He was right no one ever beat him in the ring it took a lying hooker to bring him down. What happened after was an injustice.
If Ike does make a comeback he needs someone like Curtis to advise him as to where he stands ring wise. Too many are fighting the bit to make $$$$ off his name & do not worry about his well being Curtis would tell him the truth about where he stands

I wish him all the best whatever he does It was an experience knowing him throughout his career

Can't think of too many pro fighters who have come back after 17 years. But at 43, the calendar doesn't necessarily say he is too old.

    Will be watching with interest.

It feels a little late for him, but if he fights in the first semester already and often, every 1-2 months, facing gatekeepers and C level guys, he could be in a good position in 2017.

There could be a problem getting him licensed, with his history.

If Ustinov, Oquendo and Briggs are good enough to be ranked in the ABC's top 10, then he surelly can as well.

I agree that he was overrated, and that it's unlikely he has much left... BUT we can't count him out completely. This is the HW division afterall and father time tends to be less harsh up there. He at least looks to be in a decent shape for how long he's been out of the ring.

  14. Ike was definitely not overrated, he was the most promising heavyweight prospect of his era. He came with the crop of Tua, Byrd, Klits, etc... Byrd defeated Klit and Ike knocked out Byrd silly.

Ike was definitely a monster, my guess is, even as good as the division is today he will still be competitive and make noise.

    Pretty much agree with this.

Ike would have lost to Lewis, he took way too many shots against a limited guy like Tua, Byrd fought stupid, but even then he still got up and was stopped on his feet. Those are his only 2 quality wins.. and I think Byrd is the better win honestly... but I think Byrd got better after that fight and learned to avoid the kinds of shots Ike was tossing.

I think he would have lost to Lewis and Vitali for sure.. and he wasn't going to have a long career with his style.. much like Rid**** Bowe.. took too many solid shots, but he was tough, but yeah he was fun to watch and the what-if's will always be there because he was undefeated and just really becoming a super solid contender.
