Parker has struggled with journeymen, been taken long by poor fighters. Nascimento took him 7 rounds, even a lighter puncher like Fury beat him in 5, Whyte stopped him in 2. Now you're telling me this upright heavyweight who's barely fought anyone is being slept on while everyone says Joshua is untested? OK then.

Brian Minto took him 7 rounds! Whyte stopped Minto in 3. AJ stops Parker no problem right now.

Parker is 6'6 and 240lb and still filling out, very fast hands and footwork. What natural advantages do his rivals have over Parker that you're talking about?

Getting bored of these poor arguments. While I probably favour Joshua over Parker right now as well I think these recycled and irrelevant observations are not evidence of anything bad. Parker has grown heaps since those previous fights and Parker set out to and put on a much better performance against Minto than Whyte did. Whyte looked like the best thing he had in that fight was a chin and a hard punch, Minto looked like the better boxer while Parker just fought clean an patiently and shut Minto out the whole way while Whyte threw a bunch of big but not great timed or precise punches figuring sooner or later they would land in a way to hurt Minto and counting on Minto not having enough to hurt him. Fine if you aren't fighting someone like AJ or Parker who can box better than Minto, but also have size power speed and some chin.

What Parker is now is a guy who can go rounds cleanly boxing and picking up points without gassing, can take clean hits, has one punch KO power and is still growing. Don't underestimate him.

But Parker is just 6'4" - not as big as AJ

But in my view, much faster

The Joshua that fought whyte gets stopped by Parker, otherwise i see it as 50:50 Joshua i think is the heavier handed but is slower and his chin is questionable, whyte had him dazed of a single shot and whyte looked epileptic

I like Parker, but AJ is too strong for him. This doesn't end nicely for Parker.

Parker strikes me as even more "robotic" and upright than Joshua. Puts his punches together very nicely and can finish well when the opportunity presents itself but, he has poor head movement and relies on his guard for defence. Think AJ has the power advantage, all the physical advantages and feel Parker is tailor made for those counter right hands so see this as a 70/30 fight in AJ's favour. Think Parker will do well to get past Takam and see that as a 50/50 fight.

Takam is Parkers first real test.

Personally I think Joshua is on another level

Takam is well above anyone Joshua has faced.

So Takam-Parker will tell us a lot

    Huh?

Okay, I understand the current hype around Joshua given the circumstances, but why are people evaluating his win over Martin as some indication of how good he is?

Hell, his fight with Whyte proved more than Martin. Martin lacked even the most basic defensive fundamentals. The guy was very, very green!

Going by the peoples logic who think AJ sparks JP, then wouldn't the opposite apply too?

Given that Parker was hurt by Nascimento, wouldn't you also believe that Parker would hurt AJ too?

Considering he was dropped by Whyte earlier in his career and then hurt badly in their recent match? I mean, lets not pretend that Whyte had him on the verge of KO or anything stupid, but it was worse than how hurt Parker has been as a pro?

If Parker beats Takam, his record becomes more impressive than Joshuas at this stage, imo.

    --

This is all coming from a fan of both fighters, who currently believes that AJ beats Parker if they are to fight in the next 6 months. But, it wont be by KO. Likewise if Parker was to beat Joshua...

Some of you really need to chill with how you hype fighters.

The fight with Whyte tells us how Joshua fights on emotion, and he has learnt from that.

I think your overthinking things. Look forward to the takam fight because you can't overlook that guy. We will see how good Parker is after this fight.

On a side note, Parker does not have much chance against Joshua. He has height, reach and power against him.
