Pacquiao fought the best in their prime thus putting his weaknesses out there.

 

Mayweather is in top 10 atg, possibly top 5 depending on how your scoring it. Pacman is in top 20/25 atg.

Pacquiao isn't even my favourite of the era - those would be Morales and Cotto.

I gave the perfect example of Duran and Hearns. Hearns destroyed Duran, yet Duran was the greater boxer overall.

You have to be objective and rate their careers overall not on their head to head performance.

Pacquiao achieved more than Mayweather overall, that's all there is to it.

No. Floyd and Mayweather were past prime and had a boring fight.

Morales and Barrera didn't wait 5 years. Neither did Ali and Frazier.

 

I think Mayweather had the better career, Manny's was more exciting both have records that will never be broken both competed with some of the best out, both also have there fault's Manny attained more love from the masses but no matter how much love he got he never reached the peak that was Mayweather.

 

He surpassed Mayweather's peak. Manny's greatest moment came when he annihilated Barrera. Floyd never topped that.

 

Yes I agree but to say the fight between them "doesn't matter" in terms of legacy is wrong in my opinion.

The pair of them said the fight was all about their legacy and it would be career defining in many ways.

No. But it does play a part for me. Some people will rank fighters sorely based on resume without any context. Perfect example is the Klitschko brothers. They were dominate fighters and I respect what they achieved. Yet there are some guys that may not have as good of resume that I have to put above them in the ATG rankings. I have to consider that they fought in such a poor era. That's where I have to look at the skills of the fighters and not just their resume.

So for me it's a combination of skills and resume. In the specific case of Floyd and Pac it's an easy call for me since Floyd was clearly the more skilled fighter, was bigger on top of it and ended up fighting more

Now you might not be at your absolute peak but if you are a current world champion you can't be described as past your prime unless it like the last two fights for that fighter. Or there is some type of special circumstance.
