No, that's not the case here. Anyway he could hardly box wearing a helmet right?

I assumed the eye/forehead bump was nothing to do with the bleeding on the skull but could it have been in that area? I saw Nigel Benn in an IFL interview saying when swellings like that occur fights should be stopped quickly. If Nick's skull isn't weakened and his brain didn't suffer damage then he will be fighting again in some country or other let's face it.

You're an odd bloke Herol. You say things like this and then call world champions cowards when they step in the ring with other professional fighters. I can't work you out at all.

He won't box again, he has young children and there are more important things in life than boxing.

If he wanted to he wouldnt get a licence here and even if he got some foreign licence I don't see any British promoters going down that road.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Show/Event for Blackwell.

I read somewhere that boxers (I even though it was haye) started a fund, so that Blackwell never has to box again.

If he can get a medical report stating that he is not at increased risk it may not be legally possible to prevent him boxing again. You can't stop a man earning his living.
That's the question though ...assuming he is all right..let's face it we can't say anything yet..., is he at INCREASED risk?

At any more risk than he was before, at any more risk than any other boxer?

    Look at Crolla.

bones are different, assuming that's all Crolla suffered. they often heal to 100% strength.

nope I have virtually never on this board called a boxer a coward, sorry to make your post wrong.

I stand by my words, boxing is dangerous, sorry if you want to find fault there, you'll have to be disappointed.

Yes but bones are different from what? That's the question. What exactly was/is damaged in Nicks head? If it was just a bone or a blood vessel, as opposed to actual brain tissue, then maybe it will heal to 100% strength....leaving him at NO increased risk.

In this circumstance, he may as well resume boxing....why not?

Don't understand when people make the argument that her only a journeyman why bother

Not everyone can be a champion or remain unbeaten. If there were no losers or journeyman there wd be no boxing.

He had the British title that means he's noa a journeymen. He might be for the top guys but he can compete

I don't think he should box though. He's got other options

Even if he was allowed to box again he would have to make drastic changes to his style. I think Nick will be fine in whatever he chooses to do post boxing.

It looks as is Blackwell suffered a bleed in the area between the skull and the brain. If he had a sub-dural haematoma and didn't need to drain it or open his skull to remove it then the chances are that it was a moderate injury and it is standard practice to induce a coma to regulate the breathing etc to control the swelling. As he would have had the best neurologists working on him he is unlikely to have suffered any injury to the brain tissue and should make a full recovery.

However not sure that the powers that be would have any appetite to allow him to box again even though his future brain scans are likely to come back clean. I am sure there are boxers out there who have suffered a sub-dural haematoma through falls etc. in the past and have still boxed on without issues. The difference is they haven't had the injury in the full glare of publicity like Blackwell and God forbid he were to be injured again the sport would come under huge pressure.
