Where do you have source for that? And lol @ your list. Jack Johnson at #8 is a joke. Those guys boxed in an era where there were mostly American fighters and some Latin Americans and maybe some European here and there. No Eastern Europeans and Cubans makes those era automatically inferior to today. If there was no communism you'd have GGGs and Kovalev's of those eras beating the **** out of best American fighters like they do today. Please explain to me why after only 2 decades of being allowed to be in pro boxing Eastern Europeans are dominating left and right. 3-4 of the best 5 P4P boxers are Eastern Euros right now
Not only speed skating. Every sport where you can measure success with statistic like that has get their old time records destroyed. I know nothing of fencing other than it look totally stupid when you tried to look it in olympics but It dosent suprise me that another sport where you cannot measure eras with statistic have greatest coming from ancient times. Yes I believe modern athlete is better. They had nowhere near modern training knowledge and thats why they could not train to be as good pure athletes as best athletes of today. Of course their gladiators would win in gladiator matches but purely athletics testing they would not stand a change.
Wrong. I presented stats and figures of Babe Ruth which you conveniently ignored. You were just informed. Spartans were the best conditioned humans that ever walked the earth. Did you never hear the phrase - train like a Spartan?
GGG and Kovalev are proof that every boxer to come out of America over the past 100 years was a hype job? Just two boxers? GGG isn't even the best boxer around now.
Were you there to see they train? Their training habits and conditioning were recorded by people of their times. Only a complete i diot can think their methods are more advanced than civilization that has benefited thousands of years advances in technology.
By Barry Bonds . And he required far more at bats than Ruth. And he did it while juiced up to the eye*****. Barry Bonds being a ped abuser blew Baseball wide open and forced serious changes within the sport.
Battlefield warfare speaks for itself . Take the padding off Footballers , stap on heavy battle amour , put swords and tridents in their hands and see how long they can run around for. To engage in battle in a different matter altogether.
interestingly one can reply to that with the earlier part of your post - u weren't there to see them train so you cant comment on them. One thing is for sure though - your modern methods you pertain to, are the cumulative total of about 150 years of modern scientific knowledge NOT 1000s of years as you claim, and pertains to less than 1000 years of anything remotely civilised living (since the dark ages ended). Ancient Greece was, by contrast, a civilised society for a whole millennium. So I ask you out of interest really since you were the one asking the other guy if he was around in Greece, were you there to see them train when they used their 1000+ years of knowledge? I'm not actually trying to advance his argument btw, just telling you yours destroys itself.
but aren't you trying to prove that gains in absolutes means gains in boxing skills? Because you've just admitted that they are NOT related.
which best americans has 3G beaten? list them please. which best americans has Kovalev beaten? list them please. thanks, or DONT list them, and admit you talk shyte again. Although I would add I highly respect both these fighters, don't try and make this into me hating on them , I am just using your examples to destroy you with.
nope gains in entire sports. The modern athletes not only have modern training methods they have all the old timers knowledge to learn from. In gladiator game scenario it wouyld not be so because sport is not here anymore
no i wasnt. But i wasnt the one who claimed they were greatest athletes of all time like its some fact because people of that time write in book about it. You do know that those ancient spartan population was so small comparing to whole world population now that its complete ridicilous to think they had best athletes of all time. Then when you include modern sport science it gets even more ridicilous
Kettlebells are a major instrument in modern training. Why are training methods that were developed in the 1700's so popular now? Would ancient Greek wrestlers such as Milo Of Croton be redundant among the stars of the WWE?
