Loeffler: Gilberto Ramirez is Golovkin’s best option if no Canelo

If that's what it takes...., isn't that usually how things work? WHENS THE LAST TIME KHAN FOUGHT AT 155? DIDNT COTTO HAVE TO LOSE 2 LBS TO FIGHT PAC? Didn't margarito have to go to 150 for a 154 title? Didn't oscar have to go to 147 when he hadn't fought there in 8 years?

 

I'm a GGG fan but I'd be quite happy to see him in the ring with Zurdo - interesting fight and a chance to win another belt

 

Well you're a rare one. People I've mentioned it to during the AA-ZURDO fight who missed when Kellerman said that, "Top Rank wants to lure GGG upto 168 to fight Zurdo", GGG fans jumped on me and said "why would he move up, he wants all the belts at 160", that's the first red flag they're not wanting G to fight that giant.!

 

So by your logic and remember... this is yours... not mine.

With Golovkin being the bigger selling fighter, the man who has now been a ppv attraction....shouldn't Ward have dropped those 4lbs, bear in mind you want Golovkin to drop 5lbs to get the major fight he wanted?

He could have dropped to 164, beaten Golovkin then gone to 175 to cement his legacy. Now remember I never said he should as Ward would be weight drained but this is YOUR logic.

 

Golovkin v Ramirez will be a good fight but I'd like to see Golovkin fight Canelo or Saunders then move up next year.

 

GGG has chased other 168 lb fighters without ever mentioning a cw of 164....that's the difference .....just like canelo hasn't fought a fight yet at the full 160 limit

Golovkin has pursued fights at 168,....but he wanted to cherry pick Instead of fighting the best ....this after saying he'd fight anyone from 154-168.....he got cold feet when u throw an a level, prime, elite fighter in the mix whom he isn't bigger than

Ward don't need ggg to cement any legacy......Ward's gonna do that himself at 175 with a guy who is just as revered as ggg

You said for example if fighter A is holding all the cards I.e popularity, bigger paydays, more gate revenue than fighter B then fighter B should make the concessions for the future.

Now by that we have Ward who whilst already having a good resume was chasing a fight against GGG who was the smaller fighter yet the bigger attraction.

I'm against catch weight fights, if Canelo wants to fight Golovkin then fight at 160 or give up the belt just like Golovkin v Ward 168 or no fight.

Now Ward's gone to 175 and he's got a bigger problem in Kovalev to deal with.

 

How did those fights turn out for all the guys making the concessions? Oh yea they all lost..some of them brutally. Maybe he learned from their mistakes

 

they all lost because they werent the better fighter.....plain and simple.....weight had no bearing for margarito and cotto....it did prob somewhat for oscar...he had no business in there at 147

if ggg says he cant make it comfortably for floyd...then why not canelo? floyd whooped canelo anyway

ggg might have a slight edge on ward as far as being the a-side...but its not big enough to make a difference
