its pretty obvious with that much extra bulk on him that his weakness is going to be gas. The way he finishes is not very imaginative - once hes got his opponent hurt, its the same combos again till he knocks the other guy down. Although it works I guess!
His jab needs work, it's just a tool at the moment to set up other shots, it's not a weapon itself where he could control an opponent with just his jab and not much else. Need to see how he deals with movement. We've seen him struggle with movement as an amateur vs Savon and Dychko, I suspect this could be an issue for him, especially if he faces a bigger mover like Fury. Head and upper body movement needs work. He's a bit too stiff and upright like Wlad is, that's fine if you're the taller man and need to fight tall but when facing similar sized or bigger opponents this could cost him. Movement could be better, especially laterally. He's a bit too predictable in this regard, can he keep an aggressive opponent at bay if his power doesn't keep them at arms length. I also wonder about Joshua's trainer, if Sims has the know how to take AJ to his full potential.
Hate to respond to such a good neutral post. But, I'm sorry, Whyte is the best opponent that either has Fought and that will be true after parker had pummeled takam. Whyte gets brushed aside because he's not well known, was busted for ped use and has softer body than we want from our fighters.. If anyone actually followed whytes careers, they'd understand he one bad mofo. Yes, he's had only 17 pro fights, but he's only lost to AJ and nobody else could threaten him. He had like 20 or so pro kickboxing fights and went undefeated there too. He has a great chin, very under rated skills and the power that can ko anyone. It's true with fans, 1 loss and you're not that good, they don't consider he lost to AJ who everyone is going to lose to. He took the best AJ had to offer for 6 straight rounds after being out on his feet in round 1.. He'll be a player and I have him obviously he's not on AJ 's level, no one is. I have him right there tho. He's a highly avoided fighter but he's still going to be challenging for a title. Problem is see for him is, once Joshua and wilder have all the belts (one year from now) it's going to verify c erythromycin tough. Once he's had a fight under his belt, I think him and parker should match up. See who should be battling with the champs
career longevity, keeping that huge frame in shape will become an increasingly serious chore as his lung capacity fades in his 30s and the damages from using it start to accumulate. He will need to adapt to stay on top.
Agreed ^ I agree there are more questions than weaknesses atm. His Buster Douglas will come sooner or later though!
1. I don't hear a lot of people saying this but you can't blame them, he's unproven. 2. His weaknesses haven't been exposed yet, he hasn't fought anyone of note to exploit them. I like Joshua, but whether he's THE heavyweight or not remains to be seen. I think it boils down to him and Fury.
LISTEN up, as I have seen some of his AM and Pro fights! As a pro, he really hasn't been hit outside of one fight. In the amateurs, he showed vulnerability to aggressive power punchers and did not have a good chin. However, his heart and composure when hurt were good. He also had some trouble with faster fighters. His defense is average, but he can clinch when needed. I tend to think he bulked up a bit too much, and could have stamina issues in a longer fight that is not fought under his terms. Having said that there is a lot to like. He's not the next Audley Harrison, nor is he the next Lennox Lewis. Somewhere between these two I think is where he'll rate.
hey, look, a kliturd who admits being a heavier boxer is a BAD thing. Funny, they always claim it makes them more skilled more durable more fitter etc "Christian Hammer easily beats Ali because he has 20 lbs extra on his belly". Wonder if its because in this case, Joshuas not whyte?
Anybody else get the impression that HerolGee and Dinovelvet are the same person. Both have a very unhealthy obsession with a certain boxer.
It's not meant to be hard I'm only on here as a certain account has temporarily disappeared. But you do need help it really isn't healthy.
The Klitschko's did a good job maintaining their weight in their careers. Fighters, as they age, tend to add weight. There is such as thing as too bulky, which should not be confused for too heavy / too much body fat. I absolutely think Wlad as a young fighter was too bulky / muscular. He transformed his training under Steward and developed a leaner muscle mass look. You see, fans of any fighter can be honest. I have yet to see you admit a mistake or retract anything. As for Joshua, I think he's the best young fighter in the division, at least for now, but have no illusions, I know his limitaitons.
:nono He just has a highly advanced synthetic empathy core. Way beyond the understanding of our puny human minds.
Haven't seen enough to claim it as a weakness. what i would like to see is how he copes when he gets pulled into the late rounds. however the whyte fight showed that he still looked in good shape in the 6th round. yeah he had a little trouble end of 2nd and through 3rd but that was due to taking that bomb and him rushing/surviving that round. i think he is the best prospect though
Not many .bulky I would like to see more like Holmes less like the hulk.if someone takes him into the late rnds stamina may be a problem.we don't know what he chops are like yet.we shall see.
