Arum saying between 400 and 500k means it did a lot less.

In face of a bad PPV showing, Arum has to publicly announce some type of a number and not let it be to far off of what Mayweather's fight did with Berto.

The lower the buyrate on a Pacquiao PPV, the bigger the cut Mayweather will demand if there's a Pacquiao rematch.

Arum with this announcement just postions Pacquiao to make the same cut he did in their first fight.

I'd say the real number is probably around 300K and would not be surprised if it fell a little below that.

If the "PPV king" could only do 300k buys on his 'last fight', then anything from 250-400 is good for Pacquiaos 'last fight' imo.

Shows you the so called ppv Kings real drawing power when he could only pull 300k vs Berto not to mention he was still undefeated and titled it as his last fight lol

If those fights were against Floyd, how many PPV do you think it would do in China?

Uh, he did 550k first off.

Secondly, he was against Berto. If he fought Bradley, easily 900-1m. He did 900k+ both times vs Maidana. :nono

That's fortunate. With Pac's 20 million dollar purse and Bradley's 7 million, they need to hit 450k to break even at 60 bucks a pop.

400-500k isn't a failure. There have been like four guys in history who've done better than that and one of them is Pacquiao. The fighters still made almost 30 million dollars which is roughly HBO's annual boxing budget. You can't pay people more than one or two million without ppv. A ppv that hits 100k is going to pay the fighters more than the networks can.

I don't think the Chinese give a **** about Mayweather. They barely gave a **** about Pacquiao and he's at least Asian. They mostly only care about other Chinese which is why Zou Shiming was a star.
