I don't know why but I'm saying Wilder. I've always said Povetkin but now it's happening I've got something telling me Wilder late knockout. We'll see
Povetkin, I think it will be convincing too. Also I think the fight being in Russia is a huge factor.
It's an educated windmill though.. technical double jab and lead uppercut.. Wilder would often throw hook/right hands in a windmill fashion in the early days.. [yt]skUgegwkX9I[/yt]
Wilder has trouble with guys who run and just try to survive, he had difficulty in those fights landing his power punches. He won't have that problem in this fight. Povetkin will be right in front of him, moving forward the whole fight. Don't get me wrong Wilder has a questionable chin and Povetkin can hit and vice versa.
Thanks for starting a thread here, the general board on this topic is just annoying, racist white guys demeaning Wilder, and equally a number of Americans hating on a Russian boxer with no good reason. I see this as a 65/35 kind of fight in Povetkin's favour, who I believe is one of the most underrated boxers today. An incredible amateur, and a solid pro, who was matched tough from the outset, look at his first 15-18 fights, he fought some good names early on. I think he will stop Wilder in the mid-rounds, but I think early he may struggle as Wilder will try and box off the back foot and keep it a long fight, as he did against Stiverne. The size difference won't be as much of a problem as I think some people imagine, Povetkin looks to me about 6'2.5, and I think Wilder is probably 6.6'5, so while that's a big difference, I still think Povetkin can get to him and fight his way inside. However, I'm not counting Wilder out - the guy can obviously bang, but can he set up his big right hand, that's the big question which will determine the outcome of the fight. Povetkin has a good chin, and is a tough man; whereas I still have questions about Wilder's durability, especially in front of a packed out arena, in Moscow with 20,000 partisan Russians cheering for Sasha. Probably the fight I am most looking forward to this year.
Part of me thinks this is the common sense and most logical view. But for some reason I just see Wilder throwing stiff shots at range all night and somehow pulling off the win.
