Hard on fighters ? When you are in the public eye and you dish up that effort or lack of then proceed to make BS excuses on twitter then you deserve some flack. How many millions did he earn for that ? The fans of all sports are the ones paying these sportmen through viewership/tickets sales/tv rights/ppv etc etc etc so the fans are entitled to show their disdain for a woeful quitting performance.
I actually think Martin is not a bad fighter, but he is physically unfit. He needs some serious strength and conditioning work and he could still have better days in him.
I could actually believe that if his sparring partners were the same level as all the guys he fought as a pro prior to winning the world title lol
I'm not gonna argue with you about today's crop of U.S. HWs. Most of them suck, and Martin's a prime example.:deal Wilder is another one - a complete fraud with a glass jaw just waiting to be exposed.:yep
It was a really terrible performance. 'Champions' should be on performance-related pay. By all means, if they get sparked out with a legitimate shot, pay the man. If it's been a dangerously gruelling fight, forgive the man for sitting out the count or quitting on the stool. But it's hard to accept what Martin did. An amateur, a 2-fight novice or some part-time small show prelim fighter maybe, but a professional fighter with 24 wins claiming to be a champion. No.
Anytime someone's excuse is "I wasn't mentally there", it's bull****, this is your job, life, career, sport, opportunity, moment......Be ready or don't fight.....period.
Ha. Perhaps, for all we know he could have been sparring similar fighters to those Cornish was sparring. Re. your 'location', I've been to Transylvania. I was in the region with work a few years ago around Halloween and thought it'd be funny to visit during the festivities. That and I wanted any reason to leave Bucharest.
I'm not really in Transylvania I just like vampires. I've never been there either. I would like to sometime though. Did you enjoy your time spent there? It looks very scenic.
These are separate arguments. 1) Criticising him for excusing his own loss. 2) Criticising him for quitting if he quit. 3) Criticising him for not being very good. Being hard on him for 2) is fine. My point was being hard on him for 1) is persistent, new with the internet and really a big suck, and 3) is just horrible. So, unless you are saying any and all criticism of a fighter is reasonable you are not arguing with me.
Joshua doesn't give a **** whether or not Martin is "exposed" (to who??) but i'm glad to see you're getting wound up for dragging down Joshua now. Consistent.
he just took the routes and shot he had to, to get a big pay day and titel. your telling me if you were on martin's level you would have said 'im not good enough for a world title or a big money fight'. heck no, you would take those fights/pay days at the drop of a hat. however saying your head or heart wasn't in the fight is a bit of a cop out, although this is possible, nobody knows what was going through his mind in the training or what was going on outside the ring. look what happend to tyson through his career (not sayin martin is anything like mike by tyson btw)
Ha. Yeah Brasov was very scenic. We did the whole horse drawn carriage through the woods thing which was like something out of Stoker's novel. The funny thing was jokingly asking the guy with a shotgun if it was for vampires - casual as you like he responds "No, it is for bears and maybe wolves. An American was killed by a bear last week..." The food, wine and people were all nice so it was a pleasant visit. Especially having narrowly avoided being kidnapped in Bucharest!
