Ha! Joke, stupid thread. Bless the hearts of all Haye's psycho fans who overrated him so much. It's been 3.75 years since Haye has faced a contender. He's had shoulder surgeries, gained 15 pounds, and aged to 35. Speed and agility etc is the first to go, which, unlike SHW's such as Wlad is the most important part of Haye's game. So I find it highly unlikely Haye is remotely as good as he was before. I doubt very much Haye at his prime could take AJ. AJ's HW resume isn't too far off what Haye's was, one clear top 10 HW win (say Stiverne) would about equal it up, and AJ hasn't struggled nearly as much as Haye did in his fights.

As far as how it would go stylistically. AJ would be way more aggressive than Wlad. He'd wade in and take it to Haye in the early rounds, not wanting to risk getting tired for a hard puncher in the later rounds. His size and power would take down Haye within 4 rounds.

I doubt Haye would get into the ring with AJ in the 1st place. And if the toemaster would fight him, he would certainly NOT wear AJ out as his workrate at heavy was never that good anyway.

Haye would drown AJ the same way he did to the ATGs in his previous heavy weight run. Men such as Barrett, Bonin and Audley just couldn't breath at the deep end with Haye

 

Haye is a natural counter puncher so it would be stylistically suicidal for Joshua to just wade in against Haye, even a 35yo Haye.

I don't know whether you recall but Wlad was on the front foot throughout their fight. Just because he didn't get hurt by Haye doesn't meet that he was negative. Wlad just proved to be the far superior athlete and boxer that night.

I don't get why people think Haye would wear him out, Haye didn't exactly have the greatest stamina himself in his prime now that he's older and heavier his stamina is probably even worse. Haye was never the kind of guy who would fight at a consistently high pace he fought in spurts, Joshua would have periods where he could rest and recuperate should he have stamina issues.

Haye has a punchers chance of course, but he is past prime and we really don't know what he has left. His footwork looked poor vs De Mori, more heavy footed than in his prime, maybe due to the extra weight or the time off, not a good sign when a fighters legs are no longer there.

 

Id actually rate Hayes chances more than others, he'd simply run around the ring ala valuev looking for the big punch. He trades he gets squished.

 

Always felt stanima wasn't one of Hayes strong points. Could see Haye doing a Carl Thompson to AJ. Not to say he couldn't win another way.
