    shame mavrovic got sick/ he was a game warrior

    mccall for longevity had the teakist toughest chin i ever saw.

    Marion Wilson definitely deserves a mention.

    He was only stopped once in 57 fights (on a cut), and 25 of his 57 opponents were undefeated. Only fought one opponent who had a losing record (in Wilson's sixth fight) and didn't retire until he was 51 years of age. He didn't even turn pro fight until he was 32. His opponents total records were 1127-146-14, averaging 20-3 and he fought the likes of:

    Mavrovic is definitely a candidate for most impressive display of strength of beard in a single fight, well that I've seen during my time that is. Lewis had savage power and he had 30lbs on Mavrovic, and Mavrovic took the fight to him as well it's not like he ran and played it safe. He was also making a gigantic leap up in class for that fight and had been out of action for a just under a year IIRC. I also remember seeing a short feature before the fight which I'm sure I have still might have somewhere where they said he trained in a basement and didn't have very good sparring for the fight. Apparently, his main sparring partner was a CW sized member of the Croatian national amateur squad.

    only a small heavy / but always used to be in shape

    Yeah he was tough as old boots. Crazy that he didn't even turn pro until he was 32 but managed to fight all those guys.

    yep and included were many genuine big punchers and highly regarded prospects at the time.
    the only ones i cannot remember what they were like is wolfgramm and
    saleem
