I agree. He's very limited but has a great work rate and will always give it his all.

Maybe Hearn just wants to cash out with the Selby fight??

 

Because he will make a ton from the Selby fight next, and if he loses then he can always drop back to fringe world level. If he was to lose at fringe level then the Selby fight and the big pay day is gone.

 

It was a good performance overall, although the scorecards were too wide.

Personally I don't really think he'll be able to cut it top class level, but this is a guy that wasn't expected to reach the top at British level.

He's improving with each fight, he impressed me tonight with how well he was able to land his own jab against such a tall and awkward opponent.

Selby in the summer would be a step to far I think, he needs a few more fights as there is still room and potential to improve.

Good fighter is Warrington.

 

josh reminds me so much of one of my fav fighters off all time, Arturo Gatti. Gatti was not a big puncher but what he lacked for in power he made up for with pure heart. josh is a fighter that will raise his game with the occasion, he may fall short but we should all enjoy the journey with him, he is a star at the moment so enjoy and see the good.

 

I wasn't too impressed. His opponent was tall and awkward to be fair but there were a few worrying moments in them middle rounds when he looked ragged and wanted to hold. There were also times when he looked bewildered and almost scared to throw anything, so was getting backed up too much.

Warrington caught the fella clean often tonight and he never looked wobbled once. This lack of power will cost him when he steps up as he'll have tough moments and if he hasn't got the weapon to give himself a chance of getting out of jail or to keep his opponent thinking due to respecting his power then it will be even harder.

Selby beats him easy I think.

On a positive note I was impressed with his jab against a much taller, albeit wide open man.

 

Not impressed, the guy he beat had a guy who if not because of politics would be number 1 p4p in Guillermo Rigondeaux on the floor twice, nobody including Frampton wants to touch Guillermo with a barge poll. I thought the Japanese lad was a decent fighter so Josh did well for me.

 

I don't think Warrington looked great but he was fighting a very tall and very unorthodox fighter and let's be fair he did win the fight, he wasn't gifted a decision even though I thought one of the cards was ridiculous.

I believe Warrington will struggle at world level because he lacks any real power. I just can't see him keeping off some of the real talent in the division. I watch Warrington and think some of the very good featherweights would start to walk through him after a few rounds.

 

Warrington from his previous fights against lesser competition got hit more than a championship level fighter should, and didn't show great power. You shouldn't have expected Amagasa not to land a bit and last the distance. With realistic expectations I think you have to consider it an impressive win. He outlanded Amagasa in almost every round, and his punches were clearer and cleaner. He showed his worth against an experienced pro. He's not quite 'world championship level' but he is 'world class level'.

 

Don't people always give out when hearn just keeps matching his fighters against firing contenders and not stepping up

 

Thought he looked good. The guy was massive. He did struggle in them middle but found a way to win

He won't best Selby but he's definitely Euro level

 

Good performance against a tricky opponent. Came out very fast then had a tricky spell but came thru it. He will learn a lot from performance. Noticed it wasn't him calling out Selby was the sky guy. Josh said back to the gym keep learning. He just responded to the question.
