About as pure a warrior as exists in the game today. Guy went down 4 times, never stopped trying, never stopped nailing Glow. He always fights his way through pain and makes a great fight of things. Fair scores, but it still was a much better fight than the scores indicated.
He's used to going down for Polish fighters by now....and claiming robbery months after when it suits his promo needs.
Here's the thing, I used to love this guys no surrender attitude despite his puzzling chin (goes down like a paper domino but is never out) and his lack of power but nice skill set and physique, but he's a real, whiney, bitter ***** when it comes to reflecting on most of his fights . He has to do that I guess to promote himself, but he sounds like a real bitter A hole in the process. His loud obnoxious white manager wife just sinks the USS boat for me all together. There's a reason why Steve has very few, real long term fans.
What boxing needs is a different organizational structure, like the UFC were the biggest talent face the biggest talent and a single entity - who's reputation and financial future is on the line - gets to decide. Boxing is screwed because the way it's organized into selfish oligopolies is rife with internal politics, protectionism and plain ol bribery and corruption. This goes way beyond the Cunninghams and Adameks of this world
Geez, are you thinking of him as a professional boxer you're watching on television or are you thinking of him as a potential love interest you may move in with soon?
Get outta here with that nonsense. UFC makes mismatches and leaves worthy fighters out in the cold all the time. Biggest fraudulent aspect of the UFC is that people think "the best always fight the best!" Not remotely true. First of all, if the combatant isn't signed on to UFC, they will NEVER fight on UFC. Period. So that's the same, and actually more extreme, than promotional/network issues in boxing because once a blue moon they actually will cross the party line. You note how UFC's reputation and financial future is on the line... well it's the exact same for boxing promoters. Their reputation and financial future is on the line. If you don't like it, don't watch.
I think he's good, solid fighter in the ring. But I've heard him reflect on numerous fights in his past and he sounds like a spoiled, whiny brat. When he attempts to try another comeback don't be surprised if he claims that he was robbed in this fight. Only real fans would actually know his track record/behaviour in and out of the ring.
Another overrated American bum but obviously there's a thread about him today and no thread about Glowacki who absolutely demolished him with ease.
Cunningham is a woman.i remember him talking nonsense about being from the street in the build up to the fury fight. Fury sonned him told him it won't matter a damn when you in the ring , and the cunningham laid down like a woman in the rigmng the streets couldn't help. Post fight the Cunningham camp being sorenlsoers started a row with the fury's and got the complete shut beaten out of them, apparently if it wasn't for Tyson fury stopping his family from beating on them someone might have died
Ah, yes. You have reminded me of the Cunningham vs. Fury bout. Cunningham fought Fury giving up something like 6 inches in height and 50 pounds. He fought well, winning the early rounds and even dropping the future Heavyweight Champ hard, before getting pounded into submission by Fury. Cunningham vs. Fury, another example of Cunningham exceeding expectation and fighting very well in defeat.
