He blew out an outgunned Algieri who never clearly hurt any of the high level guys he fought. In addition, Spence is still very open to a straight right hand. His lack of head movement along with overall defense will be his downfall. Also, check his fight vs. Lartey. He got clipped at the end of round 7 and didn't throw a meaningful punch after that. That chin could be Jamaican/NY/Texas china. His amateur days he was tooled by a few and couldn't think or adjust on the fly.

That was a pretty good fight actually. I guess you're talking about that right hook around the 27:30 mark. That was vicious, could've finished Spence if there was some time left.

Too bad this Lartey fella isn't around anymore. He was pretty badasz.

Spence's defense is so poor and his offense isn't good enough to make up for it. A fight with a heavy handed counter puncher will put down "The Hype"

I agree, Spence Jr is genuine in my opinion, he looks the real deal but he has to go and prove it before people are wetting themselves on thread after thread.

I remember the same drooling after Porter mauled Malignaggi, he was a mini Tyson and all that rubbish.

    People need to calm down.

Thing is, whatever you think of Algieri, he undeniably has decent movement, and is resilient. Spence was supposed to win, but not like that.
But yeah, his matchmaking does hint that someone's not so confident in his chin. Thanks for linking that fight, I was referring to it when making this point earlier, but couldn't remember the name of the guy, Lartey.
At risk of being swept up by the bandwagon, Spence beats down everyone at WW except maybe Brook and Thurman.

Also, I doubt he'll be able to stay at WW for more than a year or two. He might find it's a different kettle of fish at 154.

Let nature take its course its no use being objective they'll label you a hater. Keith Thurman is a perfect example.

:D I'm not suggesting 154 is some daunting realm of mythical beasts. He might find he's not the strongest fish in the pond, is all.

They need to make PAC/Spence immediately! That would be a great fight and this is a massive opportunity for Spence. Manny is on his way out, it's a perfect time to step up against an ATG to take the torch. It's a risk, but we'll worth the reward. Spence is hyped up for valid reasons and his performance last night solidified that. The kid has all the qualities to be on the level of a Floyd or Pac. He just needs the opportunities which I think are going to be hard to come by for Spence going forward. He's just not worth the risk. If he beats Pac, everyone will want to fight Spence because his stock wold be through the roof and worth the risk.

I agree. I want to see if he can take a shot before I wet my pants.
