Those saying he's got bad defense I think don't really know what bad defense looks like, Spence doesn't get hit often enough to be called having a bad defense or even has any obvious technical mistakes. By the time of Spence's career, if one's bad defensively, usually there's a lot more evidence for it.

I think he's sort of overreacting and gives the ludicrous a voice. Look at all the **** MVC threads everyday. No one takes him seriously. When some random poster says Spence has no defense, no one takes that seriously do they?

Some shots get through of course, but for such an aggressive pressure fighter he's actually pretty evasive. He's not exactly Eubank jr.
Hard hitting, strong, fast, fundamentally sound and kinda slick. A rare breed. Consider me a believer.

I've seen his chin questioned more than his defence, which isn't unreasonable. Not that there's any evidence he's fragile (he shook of that Lartey shot alright), just not much to the contrary either.

He sucks, I even saw algerie land on average 1 clean shot per round

Imagine if that was _insert B,C level fighter.
I have seen Spence get wobbled a couple years ago after throwing 600 power shots, stamina and chin sucks.

Also lost in the amateurs, no gold, no heart, no power and no real talent

Because idiots here actually think when a boxer gets hit they have bad defense. Dudes get hit. Some, more than others. But the non-idiots know this fact: "If you step in that ring, you WILL be hit." Period. It's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of "when."

On topic in regard to this fight: Spence absolutely obliterated Algieri. I have no idea what these guys are smoking. What did Chris actually land? 18-19%? I rest my case.

Two major criticisms of his defensive strategy, from another site.

    And...

I can see where the author is coming from, in so far as Spence can be tagged with clean single power shots from time to time.

He doesn't really get hit much in combination, though, and he usually fires off a counter in response to the shot that connects with him. His head normally stays off the centre line, allowing him to take a bit of steam off the shot that lands. And, in most cases, he fires back with an appropriate counter after getting tagged.

He's an offensive fighter, and he's gonna get tagged as a result. But I certainly wouldn't classify his D as being poor. It could be refined a little, perhaps...but he's got a pretty solid foundation to work with.

Not sure, I can't pay close enough attention. But cst80 is on his own level of a bias hater. Will not call him a troll like boxing novice only because I think he's in belief of some delusional talent judging.

I never thought an actual boxing forum would rival youtube level fans, but it has and I'm starting to think it's really 90% of the posting is from 10% of the fans. I'd like at least 80/20 which is the general rule in life, but it can't be.. it's so bad, no more ****ing idea how I got hooked to this site.

What's your expert criteria? Nationality and hue? I've never said Spence wasn't talented, I've never bashed his level of skill, but he's beaten no one of note and Chris Algieri would have probably lost to him 3 years ago as well, Chris' style no matter which one it is will always be bad against a fighter like Spence. Just like Porter would KO Paulie 100 out of 100 times.

Clearly Spence is a talent, but even now.....no has tested him yet, so I'm only playing your anti-GGG anti-EE anti-anyone who's not of your liking games. Only my argument holds more water than yours.
