It seems to be that Martin, who took a 6 million dollar payday, rather than pick a Wilder level type of title opponent for his first title defense, quickly flopped down and out. didn't see much effort on his part. His excuses were terrible. He was just kind of waiting to be hit. I think he could have gotten up sooner if he wanted to. While Joshua did what he had to do, this could have been his easiest fight to date. So Martin cashes out, and Joshua gets a title. But the way it played out leaves an air of suspicion. Was there funny business here?
It's possible. He didn't seem all that hurt, and he wanted to be counted out. Could be as simple as him getting hit and not fancying it, and decided to take the easy way out.
Yes, it was on the level. I did a thread a long time back on how there are no "thrown" title or eliminator fights in the modern era. It just doesn't make financial sense. If a person can win a title or eliminator, they stand to make much more money than whatever the other side is willing to pay them. The most that could happen in fights like this, Martin or Scott, that look suspicious, are that the other fighter knows, either going in or as soon as they taste the opponents power, that they aren't going to win and then look for a quick out before they take much damage.
Martin just got a huge pay off once he signed the contract he's set for life. HE was hugely outclassed and out gunned and he knew it why get up for a longer beat down. The 2nd KD was heavyer than the first - ***** the count then complain after. He lives to spend his cash
Well, consider that Martin could maybe make 1.5 million for a Wilder level title defense. Martin is not a popular fighter. It could take him 3 title defenses or more to make what he made vs Joshsua...and he might lose one of them! He took the 6 million and cashed out showing little interest or heart. When you connect the dots, this one smells...
He came thinking he was a skilled heavy handed southpaw, how the **** people really think being a southpaw means jack **** at the elite level. Elite fighter's know its the talent and skills that win out. Not who people think is more powerful or are southpaw fighters. Martin simply cant ever be near joshuas level. wtf, the talent gap was so big it was a joke. If paid close attention martin was hurt and scared 1 minute in to round 1
I don't know what it is about his attitude but Martin seems like the kind of dude that will blow through all his millions in a very short time. I highly doubt he will be set for life and that is sad.
Oh, you are saying he was given the legit contract on the basis of losing? If that's the case why not just welch and try to win? If he wins, he becomes a huge draw, can pocket the money he just made and then make a similar amount in his next fight. Would make no sense for him to honor an unenforceable contract that would both embarrass him and deprive him of millions of dollars.
It's simple, Martin was a novice posing as a champion, while Joshua was an Olympic medalist and showed it.
The other thing is that, for all the reasons you note, Martin would have gotten that huge contract no matter what. He had all the bargaining authority. Why would he agree to fight a powerhouse like Joshua for a normal payday when he could try to milk the title against lesser opposition. Hearn had to make it worthwhile for Martin to take the risk. No need for corruption, just raw business calculation.
If he got a pay off, Eddie Hearn must be ****ed the way it went. Should of just stayed down to make it look half realistic, not stay down then jump up on 10 and then complain like it's the norm
On the level. Outgunned completely. Knew it as well. Didnt look fit enough for that level. No explosiveness. Considering it was the first camp he used an s and c coach it shows you what level hes at. Bearing in mind joshuas probably had one for years.

He wasn't going to win and was lucky to fight for a title in the first place. Martin wasn't even a top 25 guy before facing Glazkov for a vacant title, which was stripped from Fury! Can you smell the politics now? Joshua is now in position for a huge pay day vs Fury or Wilder.
