    other eras

Who, after all, is the best guy he could beat ?

I think 2008-09 Pacman could give a guy like Chavez all he could handle personally.

Pac man should do OK against Chavez but no way will he knock him out, Chavez is too big and tough for that. I do not give him a hope against any great Welterweight and not against many great lightweights but I think he murders and flyweight and bantam and does real good against the feathers but may get outboxed by Griffo and Pep, I am sure Pep beats him but he beats Fenech, Azumah Nelson, Rose, Famechon. Interesting to see him fight Pancho Villa as Pancho had very fast hands...... it's when we put him with the likes of Barney Ross and Henry Armstrong and guys like Freddie Welsh and Jimmy McLarnin that he is shown up as a guy who really isn't big enough to handle guys who were truly great and were real Lightweights and Welters..... and as I said the odd Feather... I think Joe Gans and Benny Leonard just too big and too good for Pacquiao

Now that his career is virtually over I personally think he is easily the greatest fighter of the past 15 years, it took a much bigger and very good technician in Mayweather to beat him and even then Floyd was not very convincing but I also think Manny showed up the lack of depth and true class in all the lower divisions.. I know he lost to more than just Floyd but generally he came out on top in a series. His achievements have never been equalled as far as titles in that many weight classes and I do not think it will ever be equalled and no one, not even the biggest Floyd nuthugger or Pac Hater can take away from him... He did what had always seemed impossible BUT remember this... how many titles did he unify a division ????? that is the question.

I'm still not convinced that we've seen his last fight. But if he indeed holds to his initial claim to have retired and stays that way, then I agree with Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman that he has earned his place among the best p4p men of all time. He is the only man to have claimed lineage in five weight classes which is huge. He beat several hall of famers and at least a dozen other guys who were pretty damn good. Gave the fans a lot of exciting fights and pretty much ducked no one. Could he have beaten Julio Cesar Chavez at say 140 lbs? Probably not something I'd bet on given that Julio was in my mind the master in that division. But its also not out of the question. Pac was one of those guys who dug deep and rose to the occasion against just about everyone he fought.

How was Floyd 'much bigger? Floyd too was once a super featherweight.

Sorry, I don't buy that Floyd wasn't very convincing.

Pacqiauo, had 5 years to bring up a good game plan to beat the best fighter of the past 20 years, and instead he looked like a clueless idiot who didn't even know how to cut off the ring.

Floyd won that fight unanimously, I don't care about Pacqiauos so called injury excuse and then the 11 month layoff just to hide face.

Bob Arum said 'Manny Pacqiauo was 100% going into that fight'.

At the end of the day, It doesn't matter how many belts he won, what does matter is, he fought the best fighter of his era and lost clearly.

He will always belong underneath Mayweather in any mythical p4p list.

Mayweather is 2.5inches taller, and has 5 inches reach on Pacman.

Pacman is the greatest of our era easily.

He isn't the most skilled though.

He's in my top 15 H2H at Fly, SBW, FW, SFW, WW. He's lineal champ at Flw, FW and WW. He's in my top 25 ATG.

He's perhaps the best lineal 140 pounder in history, I just don't know if I can rank him based on one fight.

    Boohoo.

Pacqiauo and his camp and their fans in general ran their mouths for 5 years.

Maybe they should have focused on how to neutralise the reach and get past the defence instead of making commercials about chickens.

    2nd greatest.

Your forgetting the guy that tooled him on May 2nd and tooled his daddy Marquez a few years prior.

Gergluland made the points that Mayweather was way bigger than Pacqiauo and that his win wasn't very convincing.

Mayweather-Pacquiao fight happened years after it should have. And 2 1/2 years after Marquez ruined the hardcore allure of it by KOing Pacquiao severely. No one here would have disagreed that the fight lost its significance back in Decemeber 2012 and was about dead in the water, but somehow people ignore that. Strange amnesia people have on these facts.
It doesn't mean an awful lot to the era. Except the huge money angle.
Not that I believe in such a thing as "pound for pound championship" fights.

I rate Pacquiao higher p4p, but it's debatable.
People forget how insane a lot people thought it was so little Pacquiao to come up to welterweight in the first place.

Yeah, nobody is knocking Chavez out, just feel like Pac would win many rounds in a fight between them, no doubt in my mind.

Did Chavez ever face such a agressive guy ? With that speed and activity ? I remember Azabache Martinez but he was not as good as Pacquiao.
