I'd actually be rooting for Pov, even though he was such a fake titlist for so long, at least he once has some class an had the bals to contend for the main title even if he failed.

Wildman isn't without class of course, but his fight record is classless so far bar one fight, and his NFL style antics and fake speeches are just annoying. Atleast Pov knows he needs to shut up.

It's WWE antics but at least he's not a quiet robot like Povetkin.

Even if he wins which is debatable, he'd still be a long way from greatness. Povetkin is a good fighter but lets not pretend he's some ATG, he's not even HOF material. It would simply be Wilder first significant win.

Yes. Povetkin is the clear best non K of the second half of the K era. A win by Wilder would legitimize him as one of the two or three best of the post K era and as a true threat to be lineal champ.

No.. If he manages to beat Povetkin then he's probably on a comparable level to someone like Big John Tate. He has a long way to go before we can be throwing words like " great " his way.

He's already past Tate. Tate won one title fight. Wilder has won 4. And he's beaten better opponents than Tate did in his entire career, without losing (yet) unlike Tate.

It brings up a good question, though, who's career does Wilder's most resemble historically right now?:think

Maybe Ruslan Chagaev right before he fought Wlad. Both were undefeated belt holders considered second to the main belt holder. Both had a few uninspiring title defenses (although Wilders are actually a lot better than Chagaevs). If he beat's Povetkin, he'll go well beyond Chagaev. Drawing a blank on a historical parallel right now, will have to think:think

I hope he wins and I think he will.

But "greatness" will only come if he's ever undisputed champion.

John Tates win over Gerrie Coetzee is thus far better than any Wilder has accumulated.. His additional wins over Bobick, Mercado, Lopez and Knoetze were certainly better than 95% of the mediocrities Deontay has as well, not to mention beating higher quality comp within a shorter time and with less fights. Both Tate and Wilder were Bronze medalists and both fragment title holders. I don't see Wilder having a few more paper defenses as necessarily being superior to what john Tate did.. In fact I rate Tate higher at the moment. If Wilder beats Povetkin then they are equals. If he goes on to capturing lineage and chalks up some defenses against several of the best contenders out there, THEN we can talk about "greatness."
