I hate saying this, but Spence might be better than young The Best Ever.

:thumbsup You can tell Spence grew up watching Mayweather and probably does some drills in the gym to emulate him. (which is actually very inadvisable for 95% of boxers, since most lack the requisite talent even to pull off half of what Mayweather does)

If you're in your 20s and like boxing, who hasn't. I remember there was this coach on Ellie's channel and he was speaking how every newbie tries to fight in a philly shelly (guilty here too)

I'm pretty sure Broner, Rau'shee, Douglas, Dargan, Ali and Imam did as well.:yep While imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but in the end.....that's about all it is....imitation.

True, but, and I don't think what I'm going to say here is really hyperbole or "getting carried away" - Spence is probably more talented by a pretty sizable margin than any of those guys. Enough to pull off aping Floyd's style 100% and be as good as him? Nah, sincerely doubt it. But he can probably come a lot closer than any of them.

Those guys took it to overkill, Broner and Berto used a skill that is to their detriment, they literally would be better off just sticking to the basics but Errol's kind of taking what's effective for him.

Yeah I know....but all these goddamn hype threads have me in an obstinate mood. He's definitely the truthiest one of the lot.

:goodThat is what you are suppose to do. They took old Floyd style when he had perfected his muscle memory. They should have watched young Floyd. Young Floyd got hit a lot, he may not admit it but it took him years to get to the Marquez and Canelo performances.

This feels so much like when Broner when he won a few decent fights. Everyone and their momma was like this dude is the next Floyd and he would ko6 Manny.

Speed is the difference. Spence is IMO the best American prospect today, but Floyds' speed, his freakish hand and head speed, is the difference between the two....hell the difference between Floyd and nearly everyone else.

As far as getting hit more as a youngster ....that was because Floyd was more aggressive early on and took more chances.

...and really, Broner always aped Toney (poorly) more than he aped Mayweather.

Broner has never had anything approaching Mayweather's movement. He does the flat-footed version of the Philly shell.

MVC's gotta lay the groundwork to troll about someone beside Mayweather now that he's (possibly) retired.
