If he were to have beaten every top featherweight and lightweight then fought many great fighters at 147 he would probably be a half-step below SRR and Armstrong. SRR beat ATGs and several great fighters at lightweight, is the greatest WW OAT, and has a case for greatest MIDDLEWEIGHT of all time. Armstrong won the featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight titles, then went back to win the lightweight title.

And Armstrong drew for the middleweight title. Plus there wasn't a plethora of bull**** alphabet organizations back then. How many of those are there now, 4 or 5?

Nobody should need to name any of the ATGs or standout wins that Armstrong and Robinson have.... You should already know that stuff. Are you new to boxing or something?

Robinson beat basilio, he also best Gavilan, and they're both better wins than everyone on pacquiaos resume

I'm about to make a thread about this in Classic stating my case why Pacquiao is Top 15 of all time in terms of Greatness, regardless of whether you think he's the best (different to greatest) of the era or not.

please look at basillio s resume and please explain in which was going tooth and nail winiand losing a sd in consecutive fights is better than jmm or morales margarito all things considered.this is the thing, pacs resume is arguably the greatest run of consecutive oponents ever.but basillio even tho he lost numerous fights to far inferior competition than srr is all of a sudden better than multi weight undefeated fighters of today or ones with the odd loss.
get your head out of your ****

Gavilan is probably as good as Morales, Barrera, or Marquez. But Basilio is probably only as good as Shane Mosley.

You could say that but i'd disagree.
How about the perspective that 2 other people drew with gavilan and 2 other ppl beat him the same year before robinson beat him,yet that's better than barerra who was ripping thru the division on a hot streak or jmm,ha,don't listen to your grandads pipe and slippers stories too much it's a load of bollicks

He lost to an older Mayweather 118-110 on two score cards. Not even close to best of his generation. Just facts.

Very true, and pac was at his physical peak as we all know, watching the mayweather fight injury or not he was like a clone of the pac that destroyed cotto and margarito.
What about another perspective again, what about pac has been constantly been fighting above his natural weight limit for 5 years hence why he never cones in at 147,he's naturally smaller than floyd in every department and still had to make every concession to get the fight.pac is a fighter will fight anyone any time floyd is a hell of a boxer but a business man also.he was mocked for 5 years solid before he would go near pac and waited for his decline.of course u already know this because you lived through it wanting the fight like everybody else yet decide to ignore it along with the fact that pays "mystery"injury that just for the hell of it let's say he asked for a pain killer for and was refused it,and floyd who claims to be the saviour of boxing and the man who cleaned up the sport, also citing that pac had been juicing, then wait,u can't write this ****,gets found to be illegal taking iv and refusing wada testing,(why would that be a problem for Mr squeaky clean I wonder ?) And what happens ?
Go on guess, absolutely fukk all ha.you got to love floyd,ha.why delude yourself ?

And with regards to older are you implying that Floyd has had a fraction of the wear and tear that manny has in the ring ?

The sport has changed in so many ways. If you had a time machine and went and picked up SRR and dropped him off in 2010 to fight May or Pac even for only 12 rounds. There is no way SRR would win.
At the same time you have each great of their generation learning from the previous ones and the improve. Could we drop a May and Pac of 2010 into the dark ages of the SRR era and expect them to fight 12 times a year? NO but if they were born in that era they would have to. And that can be reversed for SRR but we will never know. So opinions will always be divided.
By the way has anyone seen the state of Alan Minter recently WTF

It's impossible to be greater than the greats back then in boxing for some stupid reason. In other sports liek basketball, we know from science, doping, and technology that todays athletes are superior to the players from the 50s and 60s. But in boxing, the old greats walk on water ya know.
