How has he a better resume than
    Eubank
    Mitchell
    Lacy
    Kessler
    Veit
    Brewer
    Woodhall
    Bika
    Reid

Who all had been or became SMW champs

Funny thing is, many would have favoured Hopkins of today to have beaten Froch let alone the version Calzaghe beat

forgetting Calzaghe was getting on in years when he fought Hopkins and Jones but I suppose 40 something G Johnson who was boiled down counts for Froch, and Taylor beaten inbetween a run of 1-4 with 3ko losses or very faded Kessler who had not been massively active over the years due to injurt or Abraham coming off a defeat where he was being handily beaten

It isnt better name for name. Consider Froch didnt beat prime Kessler, Calzaghe did and took the 0.

You could have Woodhall in Calzaghes resume and sheika beat Johnson, so

Magee in Frochs resume when prime lost to Reid in calzaghes.
Johnson in Frochs resume lost when prime to Sheika not mentioned in Calzaghes resume
Froch lost to faded Kessler who Calzaghe beat when prime
It could go on but at SMW Calzaghes is very clearly higher

Looks a very ignorant post from someone who I guess hasnt been watching the division for long and doesnt know the history.
Why would you have Manfredo or Bika in there compared to some of the other names on calzaghes resume?

    Easily Calzaghe

Just look at the names and where they were at the time or in the weight division.

Eubank is a greater name than any on Frochs resume as well as prime Kessler and consider faded Kessler beat Froch, but lets look even deeper.

    Pascal wasnt a top SMW
Taylor wasnt a top SMW and on a run of 1-2
    Dirrell wasnt a top SMW
Kessler was very faded when Froch got the win
    Abraham wasnt a top SMW
Johnson was a faded boiled down fighter who wasnt a top SMW
    Ward, Froch lost to
Bute was a very good win for Froch

Now when it comes to Calzaghe I notice you have missed so many names -
    - R Woodhall who had been a SMW champ,
    - C Brewer who had been a SMW champ,
    - M Veit who had been a SMW champ
    - B Mitchell who had been a 2 time SMW champ

You noted faded, boiled down G Johnson but failed to note that when Johnson was prime he lost to Sheika for the chance to fight Calzaghe, so Sheika would be above Johnson at SMW.

Funny thing is fighters like Mketchyan have a better SMW resume than many on Frochs list there.

Seperate subject - Froch lost to Manfredo as an amateur

There's 2 names on froch's record he lost two

    One of them calzaghe beat

Calzaghe stayed undefeated and reign as champ over 10 years before stepping up weight class.

Overall career wise calzaghe is ahead but you can't deny froch's fought a good list of opponents one after another.

Really ignorant and at SMW, Frochs resume is below Calzaghes, Ottkes and Eubanks and I wouldnt put it above Collins either

what I do notice is that many post on here without having a clue about the division a few years previously and not being familiar about some of the names and achievements at the respective weight.
People note faded, boiled down Johnson for Froch but fail to note prime Johnson lost to sheika for the chance to face Calzaghe and people wouldnt recognise that as a top win for Calzaghe but sheika at SMW is above Johnson at SMW

Think Calzaghe shades it being undefated and beating Kessler & Hopkins which were great wins. Froch was one of my favourites too.

I was strongly considering adding both of them, but I ran out of room and went with the slightly bigger American names.

I was just trying to match up the names that were more casual recognizable. I'm glad you added to it because people are mad as **** right now.:good

You guys are smoking crack. Calzaghe and it isn't close. Holds a win over a prime Kessler. Froch lost to a lesser version.

    You're on fire here.

It's like me on a Roy thread.

It depends what criteria you use, but for me it has to be Joe.

Eubank also has a better resume for me.

Ottke and Collins? I'm really not sure about that. That would make for an interesting discussion. Both good fighters, but Ottke was very lucky to retire undefeated, and Collins' best wins were over faded versions of Eubank and Benn.
