Can't the WBC create a 155,0 to 155,2 belt for Canelo, so he can stay at his personal weight class and don't have to hold the MW belt hostage anymore..

Yeah I'm sure massive Super Middleweights who have 5 to 6 inch height advantages on him like Murray and Rubio would be so affected by his pitty pat punches, they'd walk right through his ass, as would Lemieux, Lemieux-Canelo would look like a MW version of Granados-Imam.

I think the bigger joke here is, we have a guy who even though has middleweight belts, has 0 fights at the official weight and doesn't want to fight anyone at that weight because "he's not a middleweight" according to him. That to me, is the more ridiculous story here...

WHy is everyone sweeping the GGG can fight Canelo at a catchweight if he really wants that fight argument under the rug?

Canelo agreed to FLoyd and Cotto's catchweight demands.

Well Canelo is so good that even though he is not really a middleweight he is the lineal middleweight champion (if that makes sense at all).

And his resumé is better than Golovkin's so nobody better make him drop any catchweight demands to defend the lineal title (because apparently that's a valid argument)

the one he won in a catchweight bout against the lineal middleweight champion who was really a junior middleweight (apparently, again, nobody should dare blame Canelo because others did this already so if one is going to criticize him it should be redirected to those others first because, er...it's a good way to deflect criticism),

who won the belt against a one-legged lineal middleweight champion cashing out of the sport for a deserved last big payday.

Meanwhile, Canelo defends the lineal belt at a special weight of 155 against Khan who has never even fought above 147 his pro career because his promoter managed to postpone facing Golovkin by promising to negotiate within 15 days after the fight. And his promoter is now issuing statements the Golovkin fight can be made "later" and something about not being a "real" middleweight.

Am I missing something here, or is this what it really looks like: Canelo *****ing out?

Either way, it's a redundant point. People don't like catchweights for title fights - even less so when it feels like the belt holder won't defend it at the full weight, although that's then down to the organisation to do what they're there for.

A lot of people come back with the "well, it's about money" but I don't give a **** about that. I'm a boxing fan; I want to see the bets possible fights and at proper weights instead of just angling fights such that it sells higher. All that ends up with is me getting a less ripe fight for more money (a la May-Pac). I fully understand Canelo hasn't started this trend but just because it's been done before doesn't mean it should continue to be done.

I'm not ranting at your here by the way man, just once I started replying I got carried away.

We can all agree that catchweights are no good and the sanctioning bodies should stop allowing them and people who ask for catchweights(Canelo included) deserve all the flak they get. But my point remains, why is GGG so adamant
about only facing Canelo at 160. Really, is he afraid Canelo is going to have the advantage? Isn't that sort of a duck too?
