nah Mekhontsev got beat up by a 17 year old and hasn't looked nearly as good or powerful in his amatuer or pro career this guy was also right about Ceylan and his ratings have been near perfect so far in assessing the 2012 olympians potential so il go with him
Lomachenko, Usyk, Beterbiev, Mekhonstev, Khytrov, Gvozdyk are elite A level talents. At least 4 of those will become top 5 p4p.
done two and a half years ago but i think it has been reasonably accurate. the D grade guys have all looked limited or lost already the C grades have lost of looked reasonably limited some have done ok and almost all the A'S have been great so far
Hooper's stock has gone way down since getting KO'd and he's barely fought since. Marcus Browne has proven he's a higher grade than C. Kavaliauskas and Gvozdyk are As
hooper has been in the jail the last year and i didnt plan on him being so un professional but maybe i should have factored it in browne is still a C, all he has done is feast on the complete corpses of fighters ruined by EE fighters. if its anything like his amateur career he will fold like a lawn chair when faced with any adversity. Remember Hooper beat him at the olympics that way, hooper wanted it more, browne didnt rise to the challende instead he easily folded them two lads turned pro later but both would have been a's especially gvossyk
Who are the UK's stand-out fighters going in to the 2016 Olympics? Are there any likely gold medal winners?
while i was initially skeptical of britians chances at the next olympics they have actually produced a great squad which may be better than 2012 squad at light fly you have galal yafai who looks good but also harvey horn as the number 2 at flyweight you have mohammed ali who imo is the most talented member of the squad and has a great chance of winning a medal at bantemweight you have qais ashfaq who is okay at lightweight you have joe cordina who isnt bad, luck mccormack and sam maxwell. all 3 could make decent pros at light welterweight oyu have pat mccormack who has made huge improvements and i can see him medalling anthony fowler at middleweight looks good joshua buatsi is solid at light heavyweight lawrence okolie at heavyweight has cam out of no where and looked amazing lately, huge potential and joe joyce has qualified aat super heavyweight and he is top class and has a great chance of medalling.. however the birtish super heavyweight number 2 fraser clarke imo is a better pro prospect than him and id keep an eye on him, could be special
out of all them id give ali or joyce the best chance of winning gold and pat mccormack a good chance too. okolie may have an outside chance
Thanks for the information mate. I've heard a lot of good things about Joe Joyce, though he's representing Ireland isn't he? Is he expected to turn pro after the Olympics and how would you rate him against AJ?
no his from london and id say he will turn pro but he is 30, lots of wsb experience so they will move him quick. he is like aj, quiet stiff, not as quick but looks too have a better engine. wont set the world a light but could be a solid contender. fraser clarke on the other may have the goods to be special
Have to compliment you on your list from a couple of years back, proved to be pretty accurate! Hope you're right this time around but from what I've seen from Joyce, I can't see it. Didn't look great in WSB a couple of years ago and didn't look all that against limited opposition in the Commonwealths. As I say though, from your list it looks like you know what you're talking about more than me so hope you're right! Not seen any of Frazer Clarke but one of the coaches at the gym I used to train at in London rated him.
ya joyce is a tough one but he has got some good wins so far. as a pro his engine ,athleticism and work rate could get him to fringe world level maybe
