No, but I have been to the general area. Sounds like it is near Broadway, about 10 blocks from Madison Square Garden and a few blocks from Times Square and the Port Authority (Grand Central Station) I remember when Jimmy Glenn trained Terrence Ali and Howard Davis. Is he still alive?
Are we talking about the original Jack Dempsey's here? Your details say the following. Date of Birth January 1, 1970 (46) Join Date 10-01-2014 Total Posts 2,392 I'm totally confused now.:huh
I was there with some friends who were posters from here before Martinez-Cotto. I didn't actually go to the fight, but it was the first and only time I had been there. It was good. A bit tight when it's crowded.
Yep. As others have said this pretty much sums it up. :good And you are correct about the "reasonably priced" part. I had forgotten that - it was ridiculously cheap for an NYC bar in my experience.
I have no idea where that age came from. There's a popular bar near K-town where big fights are shown, called Jack Dempsey's. I think it's on 34th.
Okay ,thanks very much for the heads up and sorry for my confusion. Again sorry for my ignorance ,but what is K Town? Is it Korea Town because there is a Jack Demsey's restaurant there?
Yankee Stadium was demolished quite some time ago. Dempsey's is gone as well, as far as I know. Wonder what happened to that famous mural of him against Willard?
Original stadium was torn down in 2008 and the new one opened in 2009. The views of the field in the new stadium are fantastic but that is the only improvement. It's a pale imitation of the original. As for the bar Dempsey's there is a one located in the east village/Bowery section of nyc. It's a sports bar but bears no affiliation with the fighter. I would skip it if it's your first trip to the city. You will not find a fight crowd or any mention of the fighter outside of the name of the place.
