Boxing is one of the only sports i know that ppl refuse to accept progress , how can a guy from the 50`s without the working routine nutrition technology learning of the craft , internet (to share information and best practices) , video recording can become a better boxer then a guy who has all of this is beyond me , not only that floyd beats them handily , others in this era will do it as well and with ease , its like saying Pele is better then Messi , how ? the ONLY comparison you can make is RELATIVE in his time , is he greater in relation to when he boxed , but h2h ? are you guys crazy ????

I don't like Floyd, but both him and pacquiao got to fight and beat alot ATG's.

Nobody really knows how Floyd would of handled the previous generation, but I can guarantee floyd would of been feather point scoring punching while not getting hit against most of them. It wouldn't of been very interesting, but effective.

Boxing doesn't progress in the same way that other sports have.

Just go and watch some fights.

Many fighters of the past would have been able to have beaten Floyd.

Hearns in trouble usually means Hearns is in big trouble, on ***** street, legs gone, in danger of being knocked out cold. Floyd in trouble means minor inconvenience, quick adjustment, back to normal, easy night.

Yes, but could a 5'8, non powerful, non aggressive WW have gotten him in trouble??

    No.

Floyd could not have hurt Tommy to have gotten him out of his comfort zone.

There's no way you could have seen both of those guys fight.

    Give it up.

Notice no one compares Margarito to any great fighters of the past. He would get pummeled by all of them. If he fought in the 80s, he would have 2 glass eyes. A past prime Mosely absolutely destroyed him. LOL...

There you go, stuck on this what Floyd can't do mentality, I find it hard to believe an undefeated ATG can't implement his offense against another welterweight. Once again , Tommy is skinny, underweight, and fragile at 147. All it takes is for a couple of solid blows and he wobbling. What makes you think Floyd can't punch, who do you see walking through his punches?

Leaonard and Whitaker are who I think give Floyd the most problems and probably beat him. Those would be beautiful fights to watch though. I think his speed, quickness and defense would be a nightmare for most guys.

It works both ways, of course. Did I not say those would be beautiful fights to watch? Hence, they would be competitive...with both guys troubling one another. Make sense?

True, but you must admit it's always who does this or that to Floyd, it's never about what Floyd might do to them. For years every thread was about how Manny, Oscar, Cotto, Saul, etc...where going to knock Floyd out! Never how Floyd will box circles around them and make them look stupid. I think the best you might read is "Floyd will turn it into a boring fight" which basically means he's winning every round.

I agree. But, I was giving legends like Whitaker and Leonard the respect they deserve, while at the same time acknowledging Floyd's skills being on par with theirs . Guys from today, Floyd included, are being measured against them...not the other way around.
