Floyd was only ever completely outsized in ONE fight which was against Oscar.

Even when he was outweighed by the likes of Canelo, he still had a reach advantage.

Against Hearns, he would have been completely outsized in height and reach. Not only that, Hearns had great boxing skills, a great jab, and tremendous one punch knockout power.

Floyd never came up against a fighter of Hearns' size and attributes.

Fighting Canelo, Cotto and Mosley, would have been nothing like fighting Hearns. Floyd had lots of advantages over those opponents. But against Hearns, it would have been he who'd have had many advantages over Floyd.

    What's the point in continuing?

You don't even want an objective debate.

The man simply cannot answer any of these points.

The only thing he has in his locker are blanket statements.

He is completely incapable of giving us a logical breakdown.

All he has is the following:

Hearns was beaten by lesser fighters.

Hearns could have been taken out of his comfort zone.

Floyd's undefeated and he could adapt.

Whilst the above things are true, non of them would have been relevant in a head to head fight between them both.

He's so upset with the responses, he's now made THREE threads to try and protect Floyd's name.

    OBJECTIVITY?

This is YOU trying to be objective:

    That's not objective.

That is pure ignorance, because people haven't picked Hearns due to bias or nostalgia.

    This is YOU:

They are now actually matching Floyd's sfw, LW, jww, ww, and saw comp against legends who won titles at ww, jmw, and mw lmao. I knew it.

Yeah and you're comparing a guy who moved to ww against a big ww and giving him no chance because of the advantages YOU say Hearns has. Hearns would've been formidable for Floyd, but Floyd would've been the opposite as well. Floyd is one of the greatest defensive fighters who ever lived.

Hearns wouldn't have hit Floyd like he hit Leonard. Leonard took Hearns best without flinching. Are you saying that as soon as Floyd is hit he gets ktfo by Heanrs because if you are...I don't think so. It's a great fight, but you calculated that others would pick Hearns as the only guy Floyd could beat out of the 4 when I'd give Floyd a chance against any of those guys at ww.

Starting at slw and beating a guy like Hagler...not Barkley, but Hagler in his prime is at mw would've probably been too much for Floyd-but had Floyd started as a natural ww we'd be talking different.

    BlizzyBlizz,

No, I have commented after other members have claimed Floyd could/would have beaten Hearns at WW.

It wouldn't even have been a fair fight in my opinion.

I also have no issue with anyone who ranks Floyd as the better overall fighter.

Yes, Floyd is a defensive master. I agree with you, he was one of the greatest defensive fighters who ever lived.

    And?

How would a 5'8 defensive master have beaten Hearns?

    Floyd's a great boxer.

So was Tommy. But on top of that, he had the height, the reach, the jab, and the one punch power that every WW feared.

So you tell me how you think Floyd could have beaten him.

    Ray couldn't outbox him.

    Benitez couldn't outbox him.

How would Floyd have outboxed him to win a decision? (which would have been his only chance of victory)

No, I'm not saying Tommy would have knocked him out as soon as he'd have landed. I'm saying that Tommy would have been the aggressor, and that Floyd would have fought in an extremely cautious defensive manner, which would have negated his offense. Offense that he'd have needed to have banked the majority of the rounds for a decision win. Tommy could have kept him on the end of his jab, unless Floyd would have fought him in an aggressive manner. But I don't think Floyd would have done that, because he'd have been extremely wary of Tommy's power if he'd turned up the heat.

People are getting far too defensive here.

My prediction is based on circumstances.

    Style and attributes.

If Ray Leonard had been Floyd's size with no power, he couldn't have beaten Tommy in my opinion.

Alternatively, If Floyd had possessed Ray's strength and power, then I think he could have beaten Tommy.

This has nothing to do with bias, hate or nostalgia.

    Again, it's the circumstances.

Floyd is a 5'8 WW, with no power.

Tommy was a huge WW, with serious power.

    That's all.

Of course we would, again, it's just circumstances.

If Floyd had been a natural LMW-MW, with more power, then ALL of my predictions would be different.

I don't know why there's much decision on this. Hearns would certainly beat Floyd and would likely KO him, and all one has to do is watch both of their fights. It's not like you can't compare the two.

If Floyd vs Hearns is not a fair fight at welterweight then got damn, has Hearns ever been in a fair fight? This dude must be unstoppable in your eyes. I can swear I saw SRL KO Hearns at welter. I can swear I saw Hearns near death against Hagler. I can swear I saw Iron Barkley put him to sleep twice. I can swear I saw several cab drivers put Hearns on q ueer street doing all kinds of chicken dances.I can swear Beneitez outboxed Hearns in the rounds he wanted to outbox him. Sadly Wilf has no offense whatsoever to speak of.

Floyd is an ATG and the least you should do is give him the benefit of the doubt against any evenly matched opponent. 147 is 147, Hearns height and reach are not insurmountable especially when we know for a fact he gives up his reach and height whenever he gets clipped!

Leonard and Hearns were both great fighters who were bigger than Floyd I would pick both of them over him. Forget Hagler that fight would never happen.

Then you have Duran- who has a nightmare style for Floyd seeing as he struggled with Castillo and Maidana and to an extent Hatton for several rounds who jumped two divisions to face him.

In short the fab 4 beat Floyd. Floyd needs to be matched up against the great lightweights of all time.

A great match would of been Floyd vs prime versions of Oscar and Mosely.

Considering that ya'll also said Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Cotto, Alvarez, Mosley, Corales, Castillo, Hatton would KO Floyd we have overtime learned to distrust and doubt your assessment on the sport of boxing.

So they give Floyd trouble but Floyd dont give them trouble, is that how it go? Cause you see, Floyd beat Maidana and Castillo whereas when Duran was faced with "pure boxing", he generally loss or said no mas

Well yes that is how it goes because we are focusing on Floyd. And by the way many people myself included had Castillo winning the first fight. I had it by a point for Castillo. Duran beat a Prime Leonard after he already had 70 fights on his career.
Put down the Pom poms. And look at it objectively. You're talking about guys in Leonard and Hearns who campaigned against Light Heavies. Floyd made Canelo weight drain for crying out loud. He isn't big enough for them. And Duran is a style problem. But if you want to go with Mayweather that's fine. It would be fun to watch for sure.
