Why does everyone rate the fab 4 greater than Floyd

Neither were especially good and the fight came years late. They were collectively more washed up than Pac and May.

Or you could do Hagler-Duran, Hearns-Leonard II, and Leonard-Duran III.

Fights with guys like Nunn and McCallum conspicuously never happened and ydks about boxing.

 

Now we're getting somewhere.. I respect that.. That's the exact spot we are debating.. You think Floyd couldn't get to him and I think maybe he could.. It's all about how you value each boxers strengths.. Floyd might be too small but maybe that would just make him even harder to hit.. Good stuff...

History revisionist hate to admit that Leonard ducked plenty of top fights and so did Hearns, Duran and Hagler. It's all about the money when you get to a certain level. Reality is what it is.

Theoretically, I think Floyd possessed the ability to have gotten to him in a similar way to how Benitez did, but only for brief spells, because I don't think he'd have possessed the will to have followed it through fully. Again, after a few rounds I think he would have gone into a defensive shell where his sole purpose would have been to not have gotten hit and hurt. But I think even if he would have given it is all offensively, he still couldn't have gotten the best of him. So for me, whatever his mindset, and whatever his game plan, it wouldn't have been enough. I think he would have been in a no-win situation, like Roy Jones would have found himself in had he have fought against Lennox Lewis. Obviously they would have been vastly different fights with different factors involved, but I'm sure you understand the reference to it. In my opinion, Roy was a better fighter than Lennox, and he ranks higher on my ATG's list. But head to head, it's a fight he couldn't have won due to the circumstances.

I would love to see how Floyd would react.. He never really had to "fight" because he is always in control late in his fights.. I know he would make adjustments, so it would be interesting to see what he would do about the jab.. He would definitely have a gameplan before he steps in the ring.. Maybe he would sit on his counters when he needs to and keep moving.. Who knows...

 

I think he'd have been overwhelmed, but I sure would have loved to have seen it.

He wouldn't have been in an intense shootout with little 5'8 Floyd who possessed zero power.

The fight wouldn't have been fought at a high pace. Tommy would have kept Floyd on the end of his jab all night.
