Eventually the excuses are going to run out and somebody decent is going to have to get in the ring with the triple one. And all the hate will have to be rewritten
You can question the quality of his opponents, but you can't deny that triple G has awesome power. It's the very reason the fighters he's faced haven't exactly been stellar or world class. He's too ferocious and highly skilled for his own good.
It took me about 35-45 minutes, its not hard for me at all, I write extemporaneously and it was on my own thread, I'm not going to put that much effort into anybody else's.
Khan's got "special effects" and he's going to get starched by Canelo. Just like Canelo would get starched against Golovkin. Genna is just very, very solid, great balance and basics, with terrific timing and footwork. He's able to impose his fight on his opponents, and they can't impose their fight on him. Simple as.
GGG is one of the best "will-breakers" in boxing. Watch when Wade gets knocked down in this fight. He looks like he's about to cry. He knows that the GGG power hype is not hype at all and he knows that he can't hurt him or escape him. It must be frustrating and embarrassing. Now go back and look at the expressions on other fighters faces after they get knocked down by GGG. Same thing. There are a few examples (I'd have to rewatch the fights) in which I noticed this teary-eyed expression of defeat on his opponents faces.
t He doesn't impress you because he's really not that impressive. there's nothing he's doing, given his level of comp that other guys couldn't do...i'll give you a few examples. When ggg fought curtis stevens it was seen as a big step up. ggg dominated stevens, even though stevens had his moments. it was considered a high quality win. then along comes hasssan ndam a few fights later and beats up stevens in similarly dominant fashion. that was the first sign that ggg was simply building up his hype on low-level opposition. Then came daniel geale....so, ggg stops geale in 3 and his nutriders rave about this huge win and talk about "geale would beat cotto and canelo, etc." but two fights later geale gets destroyed in even MORE spectacular fashion in 4 rounds by cotto. Proving what anybody who is objective knows about ggg's comp. Next came rubio...ggg blows rubio out in two. clearly rubio is a shell of his former self. but the ggg fanboys sing his praises...."rubio was great until ggg got to him"....then a few months later, the LESS talented of he dirrell brothers, a guy with little power and unimpressive skillset who I in fact consider to be a level above clubfighter status, hands rubio an obscene beating for 12 rounds. If direll could punch, rubio woulda been gone by the second round. Other than that, its been wins over monroe and wade, two straight up clubfighters and a decent win over lemieux, a guy who had been ko'd by rubio...in the lemieux fight, ggg abandoned his power-punching style and chose to box carefully behind a jab . So, no, your impressions aren't wrong...he's not all that. just watch the murray and ouma fights...those guys were barely legit and gave him competitive fights. my feeling is the first time he goes up against a true top level guy, we'll see ggg struggle and get exposed for the good-but-not-great talent he truly is.
agree@cereal its unreal that anyone talked stevens up as a good win...but they are desperate this guy was thoroughly outclassed by dirrell...which at that time wasnt a shame because that version of dirrell could have been something special but stevens best win in his career in prob saul roman....who? ya that's right.....stevens got knocke by a 33 loss club fighter and lost to jesse Brinkley...I mean...if ur trying to talk stevens up u have a problem
these guys even talk up martin murray like murray is some force murray might have given an injured Sergio a tough fight....and they wanna give him props....but if u talk cotto they say "oh Sergio wasnt right...he was obviously hurt"....but act like murrays win was all good im honestly trying to figure out what murray did noteworthy to warrant this notion that hes some top notch win
The fact murray LOST to a guy in sergio's condition should tell anybody that murray wan't schit. but that's a pattern wiith all of ggg's opponents...his entire career so far has been a work of fiction.
