Greg, I have been trying to track down certain Australian fighters' full real names, birthdates, birthplaces and death dates for their records on BoxRec. That is one reason that I subscribe to Ancestry.com, the genealogical website. I was able to track down such information about Fred Kay in the Family Tree section on Ancestry.com.

I tried to send links by PM but the forum won't allow it... I just started a webpage for boxing history where I post up articles like these and old classic fight reports. I am not keen on spammers going there but I will delete their comments if they troll.... You may have noticed one or two peeps here seem to want to make an enemy of me but most of the guys here are great so here are my links

It appears that Fred Kay's full name was Frederick John Kay, who was born on June 26, 1890 in Melbourne and died on May 26, 1966. It looks like he was married twice and had a child by his first wife.

Probably my biggest find involving an Australian boxer was tracking down Mick King's death through Family Tree Records. A page for Joseph Wakefield Kent (Mick King) had a link to a death register which showed that he died at the age of 55 on March 20, 1949 in a mental hospital located in Orange, New South Wales, Australia. I wrote about my find on Mick King's BoxRec biography after exchanging information with a granddaughter of a brother of Mick King.

Orange, a truly beautiful big town, know it well as I always had to go through there to get to Sydney from my home town... was my home town when young at least. The hospital you refer to was always a local joke but it seems rather cruel now some of the things people said about the place... as for King no doubt he must have been battle weary and punch drunk in his later years... that man fought the best and the best of the best... quite a resume.... the record is average though which probably explains why he died at Bloomfield (in Orange).
