Put them in Sharkey's day with bad Gloves, outdoor heat, and 25 rounds. I'd pick Sharkey late or Tua after a few rounds.
Tua would rip Sharkey's a*se out! He's a bigger stronger harder hitting, more durable version, plus he has the advantage of being able to box.Sharkey was a brawling, temper dirty, wide open slugger.
Are you pulling our legs? Low punch output, overweight fighters gas even quicker in the outdoor heat. Under Sharkey's rule set and venues, its a very interesting fight. Tua could very well be the most overrated fighter here. I'll assume those who use the heavier man reasoning also think he KO'd Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano too? Another paradox is GGG, the best puncher ever at middle not being able to beat many past greats in the middleweight division, despite him being heavier and hitting harder. Unlike Tua, GGG has much better skills and speed.
This I agree with. People have built him up into a head to head monster in their minds, based on very little real world substance to his resume. Perhaps I might throw them a bone and give him the nod in this one though.
Please tell us about all the outdoor fights Sharkey had in high temperatures. ps Tua has one of the best punch stats out there, and he carried his power all through a fight. What are Sharkey's best ko wins?
You could certainly cast legitimate doubt on his ability to be effective under the contemporary rule set.
Mendoza waffles on about Sharkey fighting outdoors in high temperatures, when did he ever do that? He fought Jeffries at Coney Island indoors and the low lights blistered their heads thats the sum total of him fighting in high temperatures. Sharkey was a dirty basta*d who fouled at every opportunity,he was lucky not to be slung out for hitting Fitz when he was down from a slip.
Let's be honest, the most likely scenario is Sharkey being in a lot of trouble, getting to the end of the round and sucker punching Tua and get himself dq'ed . Well only if you believe it goes at least one round
