Far more reasons for GGG to fight Canelo at 155 than not...

    "Best fighting the best"
But as long as one of them is drained.

    Perfect.

"Canelo has never fought at the limit of 160"
When has GGG fought at 155.

They are both MWs and have MW titles.
They are considered the best 2 in their division.

How about they weigh in at what they are comfortable between 154.1 - 160.

That way we have the best fighting the best at their best weight.

Wade was a mandatory, and that was taken because Canelo put in a voluntary request to fight a WW.

    You guys...

GG doesn't have to do anything at this point.

Nope. GGG should call Canelo a coward for avoiding the full 160 pound weight limit, refuse to fight at a catchweight, and frankly -- Canelo will be stripped eventually if this continues.

Not a fan of Canelo any more. He's really ****ed me off, and I hope he gets sparked.

At this point, it will be Canelo that will be crucified if the fight doesn't get made.

Regardless of his status as the cash cow or
His A side..all that will mean nothing.

He will be considered a coward for refusing his mandatory. Which he KNEW would be his mandatory when he fought Cotto.

    Exactly.

    He knew beforehand.

If he wasn't prepared to fight GG after, he should never have taken the Cotto fight.

GGG wanted Golovkin weight for Ward.. You can't have it both ways young man. :nono

There are far more reasons why GGG should fight at 155 against Canelo than his continued bum of the week fights he loves so much. :deal

We all wanted the Cotto fight, long before the MW title.

Both Canelo and Cotto are bigger than that disgraced MW title and bigger than GGG.

Canelo took the fight the fans wanted to see most. He was going to do it when Cotto wasn't a MW champion but Cotto opted to fight Canelo at a later time which happened to be when Cotto held the MW belt.

To us real fans this is not about 160 or WBC title, its about two top fighters fighting each other.

The CW is not ideal, but its what it is. Canelo fought Cotto not for the belt, but for the fans. If you forgot already or you weren't followig boxing as close back then, do a quick google search an you'll see it was all about Cotto vs Canelo long before the belt.

Canelo can drop the belt and still be the cash cow, still have more fans, still make more money, and still call the shots.

I hope Canelo vacates and calls GGG AGAIN to come to a CW at 155 just so you guys can understand that the belts do not mean anything at this high level of boxing.

GGG would still need Canelo to cement his legacy and to get a huge payday and the name recognition he lacks.

I'm a very old man..ha-ha. I would bet I have been watching boxing longer than 75% of the people who post here.

2nd...at what weight were GGG and Ward considered the 2 best in the division?

What title did one have that the other was the mandatory challenger?

GGG was a top MW. Ward was the top SMW.
Two different weight classes. No title on the line. A CW at 164 is perfectly reasonable.

But this thread isn't about GGG/Ward
This is the pros/cons of Canelo/GGG

They are both champs at MW. They both have fought their last few fights at the accepted MW range.

I would rather see the two best at any given division fight at the weight they are both comfortable at withing the division range.

Lets say GGG does go down to 155 as a MANDATORY that would be the first instance in a long line of future Champions who will use this fight as a case to get their way. The rules are the rules for a reason now get over it and stop being a *****.

Biggest and only fact that matters: Mandatory fights have to be held at the weight limit with a split of 75/25.
If all GGG cares about is the belt then he shouldnt go down. If he cares about the money then he may be able to work out a 156-158 deal. As for legacy while I consider Canelo a future HOF maybe ATG people wont give him credit. theyll say Canelo already got beat by a 38 year old 147 pounder
