Bruno only ever went 12 rounds once v McCall, how do people see him doing 15 with Larry who was very good down the stretch
I think this sums it up nicely. And, not to overstate the obvious, but, Holmes beat both Witherspoon and Smith around the same time frame in which they stopped big Frank.
Frank would do well early I even see him out jab Larry a bit like the Truth did maybe even shake old Larry to his boots with a big shot however I think Larry will mess Frank about taking the sting out of his shots and slowly grind Bruno down for a stoppage in about 10 hard rnds.good fight.
I'm curious what people think would have happened if Bruno fought Carl Williams instead of Bonecrusher at this time period? Williams was much fresher at this point of his career and Frank's left hook wasn't his Sunday punch...
Very true. Could have gone either way. Although Frank did beat Carl later on when they were both past it, but I don't know if that's an indication of what might have happened in 1984-85.

No way would Lawless let The Bomber anywhere near 1984 Holmes. Frank could have given him a proper struggle, but I suspect Bruno's lack of confidence in himself added to big fight nerves would have meant Holmes would have stopped him sometime in the second half of the bout.
Bruno actually sparred with Holmes, not sure exactly when but pretty sure around this time period. Bruno was far too green and raw in '85 and against the far more experienced champion, stands little chance.
And Joshua/Martin was an eliminator for Fury's title... And a bit harsh on Martin, we got over thirty years of hindsight on Bonecrusher. I do remember he got no where near the kudos Martin when both had their respective fights.
Good stuff guys! This one seems to be almost unanimous, 95% of these replys have Holmes via the late stoppage, which I agree with. Bruno had really good power in the right-hand but Holmes had an A+ chin, you could shake Larry but good luck trying to finish him. Most of Bruno's weaknesses would be exposed against the crafty veteran champion Larry Holmes.. I could see Bruno scoring a flash knockdown early if he connected with his right! But Holmes would get up and have no issues surviving. Bruno might be out in front after about five rounds but then Larry would take over with the jab, just enough movement, ring generalship and better conditioning.
