Am I the only one who sees this? Johnson was a defensive minded counter-puncher who utilized feinting to great effect. He had one of the best jabs of his era, and on the inside he liked to impose his physique on his opponens. His favourite weapon on the inside was the uppercut, which he used to great effect in clinches. Against Klitschko, Fury controlled distance well with smooth footwork and a long jab, feinting to disrupt Klitschkos rhythm, and counter-punching to the head and body. On the inside, he generally ties his opponents up, wrestles them around the ring, and throws body punches, as well as an uppercut.

Obviously, they aren't exactly carbon copies of each other, but Fury might be the closest thing to Johnson that I've seen lately.

Kind of. Not sure about Johnson specifically, but I do think Fury fights with an old school style.

I vaguely remember him saying that he fights with old school techniques. His upbringing was very unconventional, and seems like a Jake Kilrain time machine story.

Yes I thought this too similar moves .fury also likes to slow a fight down to the pace he wants to fight at he doesn't waste energy .has an old style .this seems to confuse fighters.

i see as many differences tbh. they are both excellent at making their physical advantage the most important thing in a fight.

Geese, there are so many differences from stance and foot work up that I just can't see why the comparison is thought of. Nothing in punching methods or really the way each threw the repotore of punches is similar, sorry just don't get this one.

    Huh?

Fury has not mastered boxing basics and you are comparing him to possibly the greatest technical hwt champion ever to live?

You are comparing an amateur and an ATG professional.
