Floyds ability is at an elite level but it will always be a stain on his legacy for hand picking opponents. No fighter should be given the right to pick and choose who they fight. It's common sense to pick guys you know are inferior to yourself as floyd knew he had to stay unbeaten in order to generate the most amount of money, he doesn't get his 'money' persona from nowhere. His whole career was constructed to make the most amount of money possible, hence retiring from the sport on multiple occasions to avoid top contenders, and facing everyone 'at the right time.' He fought once a year for 4 straight years. Then twice annually for the remainder of his career. Al haymon is an incredibly intelligent man they did it inch perfect and all credit to them. floyd is a great defensive fighter, very negative but still impressive. I give credit where it's due, he's good but nowhere near 'TBE' he doesn't possess the ***** for him to be even considered to hold that title.

Floyd is the problem, I am not denying his ability, he is certainly a great great defensive fighter. But he has hurt his own legacy by cherry picking fights he is mentally certain he will win. He left nothing to chance, he didn't take risks, he didn't fight the best whilst they were at their best. I give floyd a hell of a chance against all the guys he didn't fight, fought too late or fought too early. Floyd was a businessman first, and a boxer second. You guys must be blind not to see this, which p4p King retires after their career defining fight at the time vs ODLH, it was no coincidence floyd announces retirement as ODLH asks for a rematch but immediately comes out of it to face the over hyped Ricky Hatton. Then proceeds to retire once again whilst the division is **** hot! Comes out of retirement to only fight once a year against hand picked opponents for four straight years. If he didn't retire he would have been forced to face guys like a prime cotto, Williams etc. If he fought more than once a year between 09-12 he would have been forced to take the fight with Pacman. Come on now, floyd has fooled you all as my man bhop stated. In no way am I saying floyd isn't capable of schooling all those dudes, it just leaves a huge stain on the mans legacy as he will be remembered by true boxing fans as a businessman with no minerals who happens to be extremely talented in the sweet science.

 

you have to give him credit for fighting pac even if he was forced to because he was assured of a lot of advantages after five long years.

Of the guys you listed, Williams is the only one I would say was a realistic fight. The others are too big. Lets not forget that Floyd moved up many times in weight. He's been out of boxing a year , no training for a fight and only weighs 165. An in shape Floyd weighs in at 150 on fight night. Martinez weighs in around 170 and G probably weighs in right around there maybe a little more. Floyd couldn't hurt those guys no matter how hard he tried! They would walk right through his punches! So of course they would beat him, not because they are more skilled but, because they are just a lot bigger with decent skill!

 

Floyd Mayweather won his first title on his eighteen fight, that left him with 32 fights remaining in his career. Out of those 32 fights he took 12 titles from sitting champions while retaining the ones he had. No one in this era has achieved such a feat. Floyd was fighting champions and beating champions, he took Hernandez, Cotto, Oscar, Canelo, Castille, Judah, and Pac's titles. He also took Mosely, Guerrero, Ortiz, Baldomir, and Maidana's titles. Out of those 12, you got 2 ATG's one potential ATG and 6 hall of famers. Out of 49 fights, 26 of them were KO's. That's over 50%. He Knew where he wanted to go and fought every fighter that was in his way. He didn't deviate and that's focus. If he didn't fight who you wanted him to fight then tough luck because he dam sure fought who he needed to fight. That's why he is considered the best of his era and he stands shoulder to shoulder with any and all ATG's. A truly amazing and gifted warrior. Hate on.

 

So the greatest fighter of this era is penlized because people rightly recognized his greatness and chose him as the favorite in every fight??
