Canelo really did have the crowd behind him, big time.

Everybody that bought a ticket was so hopeful they were going to see Mayweather knocked senseless before their eyes.

Mayweather 10-9, dominant with the counter right and smooth movement.

20-18 Mayweather, very accurate with the jab (a weapon he didn't use much in the last few years of his career, and rarely in multiples like here. The man was very comfortable and loose even in the early going on this night) and using fast-twitch reflexes to catch everything from the Mexican on the ball of his shoulder or just make him miss outright by melting clear of range.

    Álvarez barely landing.

Action heating up in mid-third. Álvarez missing with combos but does score a few jabs on the forehead. Mayweather the one actually landing in combination, stepping in, playing daredevil and just barely dodging sweeping counters from Álvarez. I didn't remember this being so fun.

    30-27 Mayweather.

    Getting durrrrrty in the fourth!

Álvarez letting emotions run wild. Mayweather almost smirking as he realizes how angry he is making Álvarez.

Some nice plugs on the body from Álvarez, it must be said. Lunging right cross would've scored very cleanly had Mayweather not bent over backwards rapidly. Jab and hook by Canelo standing in with Floyd.

10-9 Mayweather, closer - still carried the frame with the double jab and piercing right hand through Álvarez's guard in the first two minutes.

According to Al Bernstein the round was dead even per Comp-U-Box, landing 38 apiece.

No deviation, still a shutout. Unless the second half is a clean sweep for Álvarez it remains hard to see what CJ Ross' draw card was about. :?

70-63. Álvarez hurt by an uppercut and some body shots.

Álvarez getting some touches in with the 1-2 in between Mayweather's bursts of quick offense, however. Not doing terribly by any means, just losing rather clearly.

lol @ Canelo pulling a PBF thinking he could lure Mayweather to unload on him recklessly by laying on the ropes and using the shoulder roll to bait him.

Álvarez's performance versus Mayweather is almost identical to De la Hoya's except more evenly measured in his pacing (DLH was a front-runner and sagged around midway) - consistently less effective than Oscar was in the first half but more effective than he was late.

Counter uppercut off the ropes while twisting free of the left hook downstairs - that is next-level skill. With all due respect to guys like Spence Jr., we aren't going to again see the likes of that anytime soon.

Mayweather just skewering Álvarez into the ropes with jabs on the chest. Thumping rights atop the ear by Mayweather to keep him from getting uppity and cover a reset walking to center ring. Álvarez putting some leather on Mayweather's torso here and there but never in quantities over two (and even that requires throwing six or seven).

Expert use of real jabs & feints by Mayweather to keep Álvarez cautious at mid-range as both take a breather in the final half-minute. Álvarez using head movement while stalking, very jittery, reacting to every subtle fake.
