Bruno, makes me sad to see him these days.

Was always a fan as a kid one of the first fights I ever saw was Tyson Bruno and Bruno could have won that fight (he just lacked a killer instinct and was alwys a bit stiff) One of the finest jabs in boxing ever though IMO

The 1980 USA Boxing Team plane crash near Warsaw hurts my heart. Lost 14 boxers and 8 staff members.

    Definitely Edwin Valero for me.

The guy was my favorite boxer and athlete in general.

I remember that he killed his wife on the very same night that my second favorite boxer at the time, Sergio Martinez, shocked the world and battered Kelly Pavlik to take his titles in the USA.

I was extremely elated by Sergio's victory and rushed to the forums to say post on just how masterful his performance was vs KP, only to find out that Valero had stabbed his wife repeatedly in the neck in some coke/alcohol induced jealous frenzy (or so the Venezuelan police investigation seemed to suggest as a possible motive for the homicide)

Then, he hung himself in his jail cell couple of days later because he couldn't live with the grief and regret of what he had done.

I was actually depressed for several days after this happened. Honest to God, no joke.

We foxing fans were robbed of so many memorable wars by Valero's tragedy. . .dude was legit. His sparring partners spoke of him with the same profound respect that GGG's sparring partners speak of him.

Like GGG, Valero dismantled with ease the often highly regarded opponents he sparred with.

Valero's tragedy is eeriely similar to Bruce Lee's: a freak, fringe super-talent that tragically passes away just as they are acquiring or are poised to attain the supers****om they long craved.

Paul "The Punisher" Williams. His accident cut a great career short.

He still has a lot to offer but the "demise" was to his fighting career.
