Most fighters think is wrong for Canelo to impose a 155 limit

Against Cotto and Khan 155 is totally fair. Against real middleweights it's nonsense. And to be honest, it doesn't benefit Alvarez since he weighs the same as most middleweights. He just knows that they aren't willing to kill themselves to make 155 like he is, which gives him license to keep fighting small guys.

Most guys at 154 cut tons of weight. Lara, Trout, Kirkland, and Angulo would all be as big or bigger than most of the top 10 middleweights.

I said this 100 times. They need to get rid of the 154 pound weight class. And the 168 pound as well.

What does it matter when fights are rarely contracted at a divisional limit anymore? It's more likely that weight classes will cease to exist, and limits will be set on a fight-by-fight basis.

Surprisingly, I agree with you on that, shock. I think Floyd @ 154 would've been a lot harder fight than Canelo at any weight, but K2 and Loeffler probably knew he had no chance of landing that fight and they were just talking ****.

Go to 154 for the(supposedly) biggest money fight and to fight for a title at 154
What 154lb titles does Canelo have? He has a MIDDLEWEIGHT title
    GGG is his MIDDLEWEIGHT mandatory
    MIDDLEWEIGHT limit=160lbs

Why don't you dummies understand this already?:rofl

I am a Canelo fan but this is ridiculous, Middleweight is 160 - case closed.

This is true. But, sometimes the politics and economics of the sport outweigh the technicalities. Canelo, in terms of star power and revenue generation, has the right to impose demands like this. And if you want the notoriety, legacy boost, and of course money (short and long term) then you accept the terms (especially when you said would do it for ANYONE from a pound below to a weight class above) and make the fight happen. It's as simple as that.

I agree purely from a fighter's standpoint, Canelo is being a diva. But, GGG is being one as well, for refusing to see the bigger picture here. Tired of the both of them, when it comes to this fight happening. This is nowhere near as interesting or significant as Mayweather vs Pacquiao. It won't get 5 years of attention and buildup.

Good point. Of course Canelo 'should' fight Golovkin at 160, no catchweight, especially because we know he's as big as GGG. But if GGG sabotages the fight over a few lbs he won't have the opponent he needs to him prove he's a great fighter. And though Golovkin continues to pull bigger and bigger ratings on HBO, Canelo's bringing in the money if they fight. Give Canelo as much as 70% of the money split, agree to a 157 lb catchweight, right between middle and light middle, and let's get it on.
