great read. Canelo has let GBP (knowingly or unknowingly) paint him into a corner... The only way to get out of this with an ounce of respect is to face your mandatory at full weight (160) and go out on your shield.. You were happy to overide Oscar and fight Trout and Lara against his wishes, why now do you say (and im paraphrasing) Ill fight at 160, but I have a team that makes the decision.... hmmmm :huh :-(

Great read. I agree with everything other than he is a natural 154 lber. The dude is a middleweight and has been for a while now. If he could fight at 154 lbs, he would. Similar to how he hasn't had a match at WW since 2010, he hasn't had a match at JMW since 2013. He's been fighting in the middleweight division since his fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Like you said, 155 is seeming to get too tough for him. He looked very drawn on the scales, and mentioned during the post-fight presser that he talked to his team regarding weight with GGG and said he'd fight him at 160. I believe that decision has more to do with how Canelo feels at 155 than pride.

Also, Canelo wore Kt tape on his legs during the fight if anyone noticed. That's to prevent cramping. I don't know if Canelo has had that problem before, but dehydration can cause cramps if severe enough.

    Good read.
This is exactly why I believe he hasn't moved up and is in no hurry to do so.

:goodGreat minds think alike, somehow I missed this thread. Sometimes when I see a new thread is 5 or 6 pages I avoid it because I don't want to get mired in a fight with someone. But clearly you made some great observations.:yep

Well, here's my two cents... The immediate future is far from dire for Canelo! He's a draw and as long as GBP can produce "entertainment" and paychecks like last fight - there will be takers! Lot's of them! As far as "dropping the belt" is concerned - did you hear anyone talk about "belts" two nights ago?

And all that without the BIG event - the Canelo v Mayweather comeback fight...

Saul can then retire.... With enough money to have GGG, Kovalev and GeGale fight for him, till the end of their careers....

It won't even be competitive, GGG is levels above Canelo, just like with a GGG-Lara match, GGG wouldn't even have to get out of first gear for either of them.
