Lance Armstrong was doing something similar when he was questioned. Mouth says yes but the head shakes no. On Oprah he said no but his head was saying yes.:rofl

At this point, this is the main difference in our outlooks. I would hope at this point they would do that, but their history and that of the other alphabet bodies leaves me with great doubt. And I'm hard-pressed to see how anyone can ever fully trust anything in the corrupt realm of boxing politics, let alone a major sanctioning body.

All the same, I think you'll note a significant switch in my outlook altogether - and this is largely based on the fact that Canelo, despite being a very good and very smart fighter, is not a guy possessing elite talent or athleticism. I also believe he's maxed out his ability to healthily make 155 without repercussions.

Assuming Canelo cannot land a fight with 1 of the big 3 (which I'm beginning to agree, doesn't seem likely right now - but is still something I would never write off given the lack of big money options available to that entire quartet).... but assuminbg he cannot land one of those, I think they risk blowing the event which could be Canelo-GGG because Canelo might well lose prior to the rivalry culminating in the actual match-up.

Oscar's huge mistake was letting Lemieux rush into the unification bout with Golovkin. In allowing this to happen, he threw away a lot of leverage on multiple fronts.

Yeah, there were a few tells in his expressions that at the very least led me to believe he had a pre-rehe****d response for the occasion, not much unlike a politician.

    Thanks, appreciate it. :good

And maybe you and abuffy are right and that the WBC has always intended to be fair to Gennady. That may very well be the case. But it surprises me that anyone would ever just take them at their word, no matter what they say and no matter how many times they say it.

There are ample reasons to always doubt the sincerity of the 4 major sanctioning bodies, and the WBC has been one of the worst of the bunch for many decades.

So we have ESB body language experts telling us that Canelo really does not want this fight. I'm sold:lol:

Well, best case scenario, we won't have to find out.

I don't think I actually said that. I'm honestly not sure whether Canelo and/or Oscar want the fight or not. But I definitely think his language during the post fight interview with Max was carefully worded and pre-determined (strategically) beforehand. And Oscar fiendishly smiling (and even Hopkins laughing - does Hopkins actually even know any Spanish?) only amplified my belief that this was pre-rehe****d.

It's not just WBC saying it. The have never done Gennady wrong - yet. The boxing world's spotlight is on the WBC regarding this matter. I can't imagine they can just let it slide when literally every media and fan is eyeing them closely. K2 also has this in a written agreement, meaning contractual, which makes it even harder and maybe impossible for WBC to do anything but strip. But like I said, hopefully we don't have to find out.

I dont know how long Canelo can be a cash cow and a star if he continues to weigh more than 154 and take on welters

I dont know who at 154 at the top level he can fight that would be a huge fight and who he would dominate because he didnt dominate Lara or trout and I dont see a domination over the Charlos or Andrade

At 160 I dont see him as a dominant force, he may beat some good fighters but I favor GGG and Jacobs with big confidence and Saunders Eubank Lee Quillin Lemiuex are either slightly favored or even.

He may get a pass to face his first 1 or 2 true middles at a catch but soon 155 wont be possible for him and then his opponents have to cut less weight. I dont think Canelo could get away with inventing weights to accommodate his personal comfort while retaining a title.

People say oh well Floyd and Manny had catchweights, that wasnt every fight. Oh well they fought soft touches or stacked the deck in their favor. Well Floyd didnt really become a diva til his comeback and by then he had multiple ppv headline success and major clear victories over Oscar and Hatton. Alvarez has done nothing close to this to be able to get away with yanking our boxing fan cranks.

His popularity will dip if he doesnt take on a serious opponent next

At 160 there are a lot of Fighters that will give Canelo Problems.....Lemieux....Eubank...Saunders....Jacobs...even Stevens all are 50/50 against Canelo.....Funny thing is if these Fighters fought Golovkin...Which a couple have they would be called Bum's and Toamato Can's by the Children that frequent this Forum.!!!!!
