David Tua v Joe Frazier?

    Tua doesn't get many kudos here,it's true he was not a great fighter, but no one can deny his power or his chin.

    He was short and stubby ,and tall heavies who could move sometimes gave him long nights.
    However against Frazier he would have a smaller version of himself coming in to him,and even if you think,[as most do ,]that Frazier was a level above Tua, the old adage styles make fights could play out here.

    I give the edge to Joe for speed and mobility, the edge to Tua for power and durability.
    Before you dismiss out of hand Tua's chances ,factor in he had about 30lbs on Frazier too,factor in that Frazier lumped up in fights,that he was dropped twice and badly hurt against Bonavena, a poor man's Tua.
    Factor in that the best puncher he faced absolutely destroyed Frazier ,of course that's no disgrace Foreman was a monster puncher, but Tua isn't far behind him!

    Factor in also that no one ko'd or even floored Tua when he was prime.
    Factor in that Quarry met Frazier head to head and lost but finished on his feet in both fights.
    Factor in that Joe couldn't floor Bonavena in 2 fights.

    Factor in that the best heavyweight Frazier actually ko'd for 10 was Doug Jones.

    All I'm saying is before you automatically reject Tua's chances as nil/ slim/whatever, have a think about what Tua brings to the shoot -out ,because shoot- out it would be .
    Now I await all the Frazier fans abuse!

    Tua is underrated.

    His work ethic in the Ike fight was unreal and when he was "on" he was frightening.

    Then again, Joe had serious Heart. And he beat Ali.

    Left hook goes to who, though? :think:think

    Fraizer on points. But not after a SERIOUS fist-fight!

    Frazier will outwork him but then again Tua can get a lucky left hook in

    When Tua was at his best he had good stamina and a high punch output. He was extremely strong, had a great chin, and he had power in both hands from the 1st bell to the last.

    Frazier was a little taller and had a longer reach by a few inches. Tua would be about 20 Lbs. heavier.

    Tua was physically stronger but both men punched very hard.

    Frazier had the better skills but dont count Tua out... especially early.

    Frazier.

    Tua is overrated.

    For every Michael Moorer, he had about 10 cans that he knocked out.

    The one time he met someone who could go toe to toe with him he lost.

    Tough call; would be a war. Frazier's style would bring him within Tua's range and render him very hittable. He would need to bob & weave and throw dozens of hooks a round for the entire fight to keep Tua from unloading on him. I would pick Tua to wear him down and catch him eventually, probably.

    That person didn't resemble Joe Frazier in any respect.

    Frazier by clear points verdict. Tua is obviously dangerous early, though.

    David Izon went toe to toe with him, so did many others.
    Frazier's winning resume is stacked with quality is it? Want to debate Ziggy,Daniels ,Stander,all so called title defences?

    Tua is definitely overrated, I've never seen a contender with just a punch and a chin win so many fantasy match ups, I've even seen a thread where he was chosen to beat George Foreman, on basis of being a harder puncher, which he wasn't.

    Joe definitely has more than him. Frazier had better defense, movement, jab, stamina, and work rate, and he could fight on the inside better too. Tua doesn't have the straight punches or uppercut to trouble him. Quarry didn't finish on his feet both times either, he took the 10 count the second time off a hook to the body.

    I have Frazier out working him for a decision.

    I think Chin is useless if you don't have the work rate to match it up. Surviving in boxing does not translate into winning the fight every time.
