A trend since the Garcia fight is the he tires out after four rounds when on the backfoot and his punches lack any power and speed reduces drastically. Canelo took the fight to Khan from round 3 by using his jab which put Khan on his heels. Khan looked gassed after round 3. I am wondering how his stamina has declined so much. He is supposed to be a gym rat but one wonders if this inactivity in 2014/2015 has cost him his career. He may be a gatekeeper from now on.

No he went two weight classes up, boxed well and then got caught with a brutal shot. MOST people expected Khan to be knocked out, now people are saying his career is over because it happened?

Khan is very much a 12 round fighter, his best wins have been UD's as has his controversial defeat.

I think he'll still win another world title and have a couple of defences and then lose in a similar fashion. He always comes back from defeats, remember that.

I do have to agree slightly with o.p.
Khan wasnt as sharp/fast after the first 3rds and if khan was going to win the bout on speed he had to keep the pace for 12rds.
You could tell in the 4th his speed had dropped off and also he had lapses in concentration starting to show in this rd.
Khan isnt finished and hell come back from the defeat but if he could of kept the sharpness of the first 3rds up for 12 rds it wouldnt of finished like it did imo

Absolute rubbish. He Fought 12 rounds at a good pace against Collazo, Algeri and Alrxander recently. The difference this time is he was being stalked by an 180lb beast in Canelo not a stamina issue

He is still an amateur, he hasn't transcended well into the pro's. He is more than a four round fighter however.

Only reason he started to slow was 1. Alverez shots were starting to get to him and 2. All that added size will of effected his stamina. It takes a very special fighter to be able to jump up in weight like he tried and he's not that special im afraid, good but not elite.

Makes me laugh when something happens in a fight automatically all the experts come out? Like for example now everyone is saying khan has poor stamina when he's always been a solid 12 round fighter that's never been his issue.
Impossible to pack size on and it not have some bearing on your stamina would take the body months and months to adjust to the added weight. Even more so when in agianst a monster at that weight

Khans never kept the pace he was doing in the first 3rds in any 12rd fight. Yes hes fought for 12rds at a good pace but he needed to be exra sharp on sat night exactly like he was in first 3rds. There is a difference ya know

The op is spot on. If you watch khans fights closer he does slow down considerably after about 3 rounds. They cant keep up with him the first three. Then his pace drops. Thats when they start sticking it on him.

Khan should genuinely think about getting out the game now. Not one for kneejerk reactions but if theres ever been someone that looks like they re a danger to getting seriously hurt in a boxing ring its amir.

Dont get me wrong theres still fights he d win against b level fighters or guys with no punch etc. But hes only one fight away from being seriously hurt. If its not now it ll be in the long run. Just doesnt have the brain for boxing at the top level plus his athletic gifts are on the wane. Hes 28/29 now. Fancy both garcia and brook to beat him now..pretty brutally at that. Whats he gonna do fight chris algeria again. Find more collazo,s. Even then hes still always a danger of getting taking out. Especially that his punch resistance will probably be even worse now.

I take my hat off to khan tbh...he upped sticks and moved to america. Challenged himself. But its not really worked out for him in the end. Thats 3 bad ko,s now with the exception of maidana who chased him about the ring anyone hes fought that can punch have knocked him out badly. And theres a lot that cant punch that have put him over or rocked him.

I think he should get a couple of easy wins and then call it a day. Its dangerous putting khan in there with anyone at the top level. He might win some of them but he ll always be close to being wiped out at any time.

As good as khan looks at times he just has too many flaws to overcome.

As the days roll on from the Khan defeat, Canelo's weight on that night gets heavier and heavier.

Agreed. No chance he's a "4 round fighter".

needs to stay in the gym for 6 months, get back on the ariza shakes and fight garcia at 147. all or nothing. if he loses badly then it's time to retire.

he seems a bit re****ed sometimes, doesn't know if he should be a boxer or a celebrity.

The problem is more that his one-dimensional nature as a figher becomes more pronounced after four rounds, especially when he's fighting someone that he knows in his hearts of hearts is all wrong for him. Both Garcia and Canelo were missing him by a whisker before they caught him - and Garcia after he caught him before the other knockdowns - and Khan got stressed. When Khan feels uncomfortable he becomes a parody of himself.

I'd agree Canelo's punches were probably scrambling his brain a bit, he seemed to lose his concentration after a few hard head shots after round 2 I thought. The size issue was obviously significant, Khan's punches were bouncing off Canelo whereas the punches he got back were having an effect. It looked apparent during round 4 that Amir made a big mistake thinking he could win this fight. I don't think you can gain much else, it was a rigged game.

You obviously missed all his WW bouts or your just ignorant. His speed was there for all 12 vs Collazo, Alexander and Algieri.
